Correspondence:
Clerk Draper presented information from the Wood County Planning & Zoning Department
regarding a reminder that Floodplain and Shoreland permit applications are required for any
type of development in these zoning areas. Contact their office before issuing any type of
permit in these areas, or if unsure if a permit is needed.
Clerk Draper received information from the Wisconsin DNR regarding an individual permit
application to install stream bank erosion control on the Wisconsin River. About 115 linear feet
of rock riprap will be installed at the Plank Hill Boat Landing.
Notice of the June 19th WTA Wood County Unit meeting was shared. Meeting starts at 7:00 pm
at the Pittsville Community Center. The Town of Grand Rapids is hosting. Wood County
Corporate Counsel, Nicholas Flanagan will be the Speaker.
Discussed the return of a piece of certified mail. This was an attempted contact regarding one
of the nuisance properties the Town is working on.
Chairman Moody shared the received Clerk College graduation notice/invitation. The
graduation will take place on Friday, June 26th.
Chairman Moody shared the received Wood County Highway Department after hours on-call
schedule. This schedule will be posted in the Town Hall and the Town Garage, as well as a
copy given to Supervisors Schmidt and Jensen.
Chairman Moody shared that he attended the quarterly meeting for the contracted EMS.
Results were given for the last 12 months of service. It was mentioned they will have 2027
budget information available at the next quarterly meeting. A reminder was given to have the
SL-309 form completed for Maintenance of Effort reporting.
Road Superintendent report: Road Superintendent Lueneburg was not available for the
meeting. Chairman Moody read his report. It was noted that shoulder mowing has been
started. Batterman Road is now fully open. The landfill tasks have been completed. The cap at
the Landfill will need to be maintained with the mower moving forward, which will be a timely
process each mowing. There are potholes on Kimball, Wilhorn, Swiggum, and Batterman,
which will be patched once the rain passes. Work on Batterman is planned for this summer,
getting a lift in repetitively low/problem areas, using materials at the landfill.

New Business:
Discussion followed regarding the railroad crossing on Kimball Avenue. The Railroad is
requiring the painting of crossing markings on this road. Chairman Moody has emailed Tyrel
Viner with the railroad, asking to put this project off, as that portion of Kimball Avenue is on the
schedule for resurfacing in 2028. He has not received a return reply from Viner. Options for
this project were discussed. The Wood County Highway Department hires Adams County
Highway Department to do this sort of painting. When contacting the Adams County Highway
Department, they stated the cost of this project would be $2200. The Town could lower the
speed limit to 35 MPH, which would eliminate the need for painting the markings. However, in
order to lower the speed limit, a traffic time study must be completed first. Full information
regarding the traffic study is unknown. Chairman Moody will look into the details of a traffic
time study. It was decided to table this decision until next month’s meeting.
We Energies has submitted an application to perform utility work for installation of residential
service on Ver Bunker Avenue. The application was examined. Payment was submitted with
the application in anticipation of approval. Jensen motioned to approve the utility work to be
completed on Ver Bunker Avenue, Schmidt seconded. Motion carried.
Clerk Draper presented the beer and liquor licenses submitted by the Crow Bar and Grill,
Switched II, Ho-Chunk Gaming, Whitetail Crossing, and the Nekoosa Conservation Club, as
well as the accompanying Operator’s Licenses. After review of these licenses and discussion,
Schmidt motioned to approved renewal of the beer and liquor licenses as submitted, and the
Operators licenses to those who have completed the certification course and submitted
payment, Jensen seconded, motion carried.
Old Business:
Jensen gave an update regarding the nuisance properties that have been notified by the Town
of necessary clean-up. The property on the curve on Highway G has been mostly cleaned up.
The owner is planning to wait until winter to safely burn some brush and debris. The Town is in
agreement with this plan. The Bollig Court property owner and Lynn Hill Road owners have
plans to complete their clean-up and moving of objects away from road right-of-way by the end
of June. The County Road GG property has not contacted the Town regarding this issue, and
has declined receipt of certified letters. This case will be submitted to the Wood County Sheriff
for further action.
Public Input: The public presented no comments.
Topics for future discussion: No topics were brought forward.
Adjourn: Being there was no other business to conduct, Schmidt made a motion to adjourn
the meeting at 5:44 p.m. and Jensen seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Tracey Draper, Clerk
