New Business: Discussion with Sheriff Becker regarding Public Nuisance ordinance, citations, fees, processes, and relevant matters: Sheriff Shawn Becker and Lieutenant Kalvin Dorshorst introduced themselves. They will be working with the Town on enforcing the Nuisance citations in the future, and requested discussion with the Board regarding setting more definitive fees for the citations. Discussion of the current ordinance fee ranges and expected regular court costs followed. The Board suggested citations at First Offense $100 plus costs, Second Offense $200 plus costs, Third Offense $250 plus costs, and Fourth and Subsequent Offenses $300 plus costs. Lieutenant Dorshorst noted costs would typically run about $114.50 per citation. Discussion followed regarding citations being sent by certified mail, timeframes given with the citations, and the Board noted this would be set on a case-by-case basis due to varying factors, and they would be working with the Sheriff’s Department on each individual citation. Supervisor Jensen will be the Board contact regarding these issues. Sheriff Becker mentioned the importance of informing the Clerk of Courts of the name of the Town’s attorney, so they are informed regarding cases as necessary. It was noted that the fees will increase according to the number of citations given in a year, and a citation year starts from the date of the first citation issued, and not a basic calendar year. Jensen motioned to approve the proposed citation fees at First Offense $100 plus costs, Second Offense $200 plus costs, Third Offense $250 plus costs, Fourth and Subsequent Offenses $300 plus costs. Schmidt seconded said motion. All were in favor and the motion carried. This process will require some implementation time; Sheriff Becker will inform Supervisor Jensen of their status in working on the citations. Correspondence: Northern Lake Service, Inc. landfill well laboratory test results: Copies of the laboratory test results were shared with the Board. Chairman Moody also shared that he had been contacted by the DNR regarding the landfill area, and their desire to remove the wells from further required testing and to definitively close the landfill. The information explained the necessary work required to accomplish this. Much of this information had been shared previously during the October 21, 2025 inspection visit. Discussion followed regarding steps to take to get this work done. The DNR would like a written progress report and compliance plan by March 12, 2026. Extreme Weather and Climate Services Roadshow educational opportunity: Clerk Draper shared a flyer from the University of Wisconsin regarding this free informational session on February 4, 2026 from 4-6 pm at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. Registration for anyone interested is requested by Monday, February 2nd. 3 WTA District Meetings: The agenda for the District Meetings was shared with the Board. The meeting in Stevens Point will be held on Friday, February 27th. These meetings include Board of Review Certification. Randy, Kathy, and Tracey will be attending. Road Superintendent report: Road Superintendent, Adam Lueneburg mentioned that he is working on getting the roads cleared and spreading a sand and salt mixture. There are some signs down, and he will work on getting these posted on a temporary basis, until the ground thaws enough for permanent replacement. It was noted that Harvey Woods filled in for Adam this past week when necessary with the inclement weather. He did a great job. He will continue to assist Adam on a part time, as needed basis. Old Business: None. Topics for future discussion: None. Public Input: - Sheriff Becker and Lieutenant Dorshorst had been asked about the investigation into shots fired on Kimball Avenue about 1½- 2 months ago. They had mentioned, if it was the incident they were thinking of, it is an ongoing investigation. No definitive information could be given. - Request was made for an enclosure for the bulletin board behind the Town Hall, to protect postings and other information from the weather. This board might be used more if items were not exposed to the weather conditions. Road Superintendent Lueneburg will research some possibilities for this, and present them at the next Board meeting. - Magnetic signs for the drop box will be explored for convenience. - Mention was made of a supervisor and town member removing a dead deer from the front yard of a Towns person in need. Thank you to those who helped in this situation. - Discussion then revisited the process for issuing citations and sending letters to nuisance properties. Also was mentioned the need to discontinue Conditional Use permits for these properties. Chairman moody mentioned various properties that will be addressed with this new system in place. Adjourn: Being there was no other business to conduct, Jensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Tracey Draper, Clerk
