Next Scheduled Board Meeting: September Town Board meeting set for Monday, September 8, 2025 at 6 pm at the Port Edwards Town Hall. Discuss with action Plan/Zoning Commission input: Plan/Zone Commission Chair, Dan Matthews brought to discussion Conditional Use Permits and the frequency of inspections and/or review by the Plan/Zone Commission. Nekoosa Fire Chief, Mike Hartje reported that inspections occur twice a year, which is a state law, but if a business occupies 25% or less of a person’s home, it is non-inspectable. However, if it is decided that inspection is a condition of the permit, the business would be inspected once yearly. After discussion, decision was made for Conditional Use Permits will be reviewed annually in March. The Plan/Zone Commission will review the Conditional Use Permit businesses during the first quarter of the year, and present denials or approvals to the Board at the March meeting. Chief Hartje will forward inspection results to the Board members. New Conditional Use Permit businesses will be forwarded to Chief Hartje to include on the inspection list. Review of Correspondence Received: Environmental Impact Statement was reviewed by the Board. Notice of Wood County obtaining ownership of Parcel of land through tax deed was reviewed and discussed. Notice of transfer in ownership of parcel of managed forest land was reviewed by the Board. Receipt of a Sanitary permit was noted. 3 Road Superintendent Report: Adam Lueneburg reported that there have been multiple calls regarding the grading of Batterman Road. He has done one pass on the Town roads with the mower, and will do another sweep when possible. Otherwise just trying to catch up on everything that needs attention. New Business: Discuss with action a Revision of Notice: Notice of Public Records Accessibility (Wis.Stat.19.34(1)) 4/8/2024 – Clerk Draper suggested changes in the wording to delete notation of business hours and correct the address to the Town Hall address. Suggestion by Moody to simplify as Town of Port Edwards Clerk as the contact, so no future changes will be necessary. Jensen motioned to approved the changes, Schmidt seconded, motion carried. Discuss with action a Revision of Permit Application: Construct and Operate Transmission/Utility Line on Hwy/Rd Permit Application – It was noted that this form requires an address change on the last page. The address will be changed to the Town Hall address of 2000 County Road G. Jensen motioned to change the address to 2000 Cunty Road G, Schmidt seconded, motion carried. Old Business: Review letter regarding Notice of Town Contact / Address change and list of vendors informed. The devised letter with the contact change, address change to 2000 County Road G, and list of vendors informed were reviewed. It was noted that going forward address changes as possible would state Town of Port Edwards Clerk and use the Clerk’s personal telephone number only as necessary for a contact number. Jensen made a motion to make those changes, Schmidt seconded, motion carried. Public Input: Plan/Zone Commission would like the Conditional Use Permit Public Hearings to be held on Monday, September 8th starting at 5:30 pm. The recommendations and approval for these permits will then be on the Board Meeting agenda, with the Board Meeting immediately following the Conditional Use Permit Public Hearings. Suggestion was made to have the Zone/Plan Commission on the Board Meeting agenda on a quarterly basis to report on necessary Conditional Use information. Question was raised regarding the progress on the Plank Hill project. Chairman Moody mentioned this project will be started and completed in 2026, to the best of his knowledge. Adjourn: Being no other business to conduct, Jensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:49 p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Tracey Draper, Clerk
