The Town has several roads needing attention be it from pot holes or excessive moisture. Grader tire repair is proving to be a challenge. Pomps will be out to attempt another repair. New Business: Referendum: Nathan Black and Lynn Knight from the Nekoosa School District were present to deliver information on this subject. They explained this request is asking to renew the referendum that was approved five years ago. This would basically renew that referendum allowing the projects these additional monies have enabled, to continue on. A public meeting will be held on March 26th, 2025, at 5:30pm in the Nekoosa High School commons. New Town Attorney: The proposed contract from Attorney Abts was briefly studied. The language appeared pretty standard. O’Donnell made a motion to approve Attorney Abts’ contract to designate his services on behalf of the Town. Schmidt seconded the motion and the motion carried. 2025 Road Projects: Estimates for the following road work were discussed: $30,000/mile cost for chip sealing and $6,000/mile cost for crack filling. Wilhorn Road from the Nekoosa city limits to Swiggum Lane should really be closely examined. That road never received its additional layer of asphalt the year following its improvement. Moody likes the idea of chip sealing all three miles of Lynn Hill Road. O’Donnell made a motion to approve designating the chip sealing of Lynn Hill Road, complete from CTH AA to CTH G, as the 2025 road project. Schmidt seconded and motion carried. Fire Call: A passerby called in this fire in the 1400 area of Kimball Avenue. Fire department responded to find the property owner doing everything correctly. The department thanked the owner and returned to the station. O’Donnell Certified Survey Map: Map was reviewed. O’Donnell elaborated briefly on the circumstances leading to the map. Schmidt made a motion to accept the new certified survey map and Moody seconded. Motion carried. Lewis Rip Rap Project: Wood County Planning and Zoning has included the Town on conversations with the DNR, Army Corp of Engineers, and Mr. Lewis regarding a rip-rap project that is going to be installed. Enforcement Office/Constable: After some examination and more information gathering, the Town has no one to issue citations on behalf of the Town. Even though the Town ordinances designate that authority is held by the board, it was not recommended by the attorney the Clerk was working closely with on the Aron property. The Town residents will have to decide if they would like to establish an enforcement office or re-instate the constable position. Old Business: Aron Property: At the request of the board this topic was tabled until next month. Public input: A resident mentioned Kelnhoffer continues to add to his collection. 3 Next Scheduled Board Meeting: The next regularly scheduled monthly Town Board Meeting is set for Monday, April 14th, 2025. The meeting will be called to order at 6:00p.m. in the Port Edwards Town Hall. The annual Town meeting will follow on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, beginning at 6p.m. and also being conducted at the Town Hall.
