1 TOWN OF PORT EDWARDS CAUCUS MEETING MINUTES Date: January 14th, 2025 Call to Order: The meeting began at 6:00p.m. in the Town Hall with an invitation by Chairman Moody to Pat Martinson to join the front table to Chair the Caucus. Meeting Certification: This meeting has been properly posted on the Town Hall door, as well as published on our website to notify the public of date, place, time, and agenda. Attendance: Chairman Randy Moody, Supervisors Tim Schmidt and Jeff O’Donnell, Treasurer Kathy Reese, Clerk Michelle Sorenson, Tracey Draper, Doris Challoner, Pat Martinson, Cary Smith, Trevor Jensen, and Anne Arendt. Clerk Nominations: Martinson begin the caucus with a request to nominate candidates for Town Clerk. A motion was made by Tracey Draper to nominate herself for the position. Moody seconded the motion and motion carried. Trevor Jensen made a motion to nominate Amber Jensen and the motion was seconded by Schmidt. Motion carried. Doris Challoner made a motion to nominate Michelle Sorenson and the motion was seconded by Sorenson. Motion carried. There were no additional nominations for Town Clerk. Paper was passed out to everyone in attendance to vote on the candidates nominated as only two can be listed on the April ballot. The ballots were collected by Schmidt and read aloud by Martinson. Draper received five votes and Jensen and Sorenson both received three. Much debate followed regarding how to determine the tie breaker for a second candidate. A second vote was finally decided upon resulting in Jensen getting seven votes and Sorenson receiving four. Moody placed the names of Draper and Jensen in a box and Martinson picked to determine ballot placement. Jensen will be listed first and Draper second. Treasurer Nominations: Martinson opened the floor for nominations for Town Treasurer. A motion was made by Moody and seconded by O’Donnell to nominate Kathy Reese. Motion carried. Sorenson moved to nominate Emily Brown. Challoner seconded the motion and motion carried. Nominations for Town Treasurer were closed. The ballot placement will have Brown listed first and Reese listed second as determined by drawing names. Supervisor Nominations: Martinson opened the floor to nominations for Town Supervisor. Moody made a motion to nominate Trevor Jensen. Motion was seconded by Schmidt and motion carried. Moody made a second motion to nominate Tim Schmidt and the motion was seconded by O’Donnell. Motion carried. A motion was made by Smith to nominate Cary Smith for Town Supervisor with the motion being seconded by Sorenson. Motion carried. There were no additional nominations for Town Supervisor. Ballot placement was again determined by luck of the draw resulting in the ballot order being Jensen, Smith, and Schmidt. 2 Chairman Nominations: Martinson opened the floor for Town Chairman nominations next. Smith made a motion to nominate Randy Moody and the motion was seconded by Reese with the motion carrying. Schmidt made a motion to nominate Trevor Jensen for Town Chairman. Motion was seconded by Smith and motion carried. Ballot order was determined to be Moody first and Jensen second. Adjourn: Being no other nominations to be made, Moody asked for a motion to accept the meetings actions. Smith made the motion and Moody seconded. Motion carried.
