They billed the Town, as was expected, for additional road work that needed to be done on Plank Hill Lane. That bill was in excess of $40,000, which was not expected. Discussion was had by the Board. The work needing to be done should have been caught by the County’s engineer at the time the County put their estimate together. Moody will put in a call to Roland Hawk for some clarification and possible adjustment on the bill. Motion was seconded by Schmidt and the motion carried. Total disbursements for the month of August were $37,710.85 with total revenues being $68,176.94. 2 Treasurer and Clerk Financial Reports: The Treasurer and Clerk reports were reviewed by the Board. All reports balance. Total Town money as of August 31st, 2024, is $296,775.47. O’Donnell made a motion to accept the reports as delivered. Schmidt seconded said motion. Motion carried. Correspondence: WISLR paperwork was received by the Clerk. This is an off year so all that is needed is for the Town map to be reviewed, signed, and returned. Clerk was in receipt of an invitation from Ace Hardware to their customer appreciation event. That event is happening on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, from 6p.m. until 9p.m. The Wood County Treasurer gave notice of a tax deed sale happening on parcel 13-00672I. The parcel is 0.167 acres and located on Wilhorn Road. They will be taking bids until September 20th, 2024 at 4p.m. The City of Wisconsin Rapids mailed their Recycling Cooperative Agreement to the Town for 2025. Current compost site tags cost $65.00. The cost for a tag in 2025, has not yet been determined. The City made note that non-residential passes are no longer available from the City garage. Schmidt made a motion to accept the agreement with the City of Wisconsin Rapids and O’Donnell seconded it. Motion carried with all in favor. Comfort Aire mailed a written estimate to the Clerk for new heaters in the highway shop. To put air conditioning and heat in the area to be the office will cost $4,600. The units would be 19 seer efficient and produce 16,400-18,000 BTU’s. A new 80% efficiency, Reznor natural gas heater for the shop will run $4,900 and produce 250,000 BTU’s. Moody mailed a certified letter to the property owners of Lot 3 in the Bollig subdivision. The letter gives them a deadline to remove the personal property they have sitting in the road right- of-way, and obtain a driveway permit and fire number. Highway Superintendent Report: At last month’s Board meeting, up to $4,800 was approved for the purchase of tractor tires. The crew is still waiting for numbers on cost from Wood County Highway Department. The one rim of the tractor was described. It has a good sized crack that allows the fluid inside to leak out. O’Donnell made a motion to allow Wood County to repair the rim. Schmidt seconded said motion. Motion carried. The crew is going to begin patching. They may need to order another load of patch material. A random nugget of information: Creamery Road has a stretch where the center of the road is caving in and the pavement is following that lead. New Business: Tractor Tires: Were addressed at last month’s meeting. Tractor Tire Rim: O’Donnell motioned during the Superintendent report and Schmidt seconded taking the rim to the Wood County Highway garage. Accessibility: The issues identified were outlined in a letter from the Wisconsin DOJ. The biggest concern is the ramp into the Town Hall. Moody has scheduled appointments with Ascent Construction and Redemption Building to get estimates on bringing the ramp up to ADA guidelines. O’Donnell questioned whether the Town Hall could be grandfathered due to being built in 1903. The Clerk will email the Town’s attorney for his opinion. 3 Old Business: Update on Highway Shop: Any kind of activity on the highway shop has been put on hold pending the outcome of Moody’s conversation with Wood County Highway Commissioner about the additional charges for Plank Hill Lane’s reconstruction and the estimates that come in for the approach to the Town Hall. Public input: A question came from the floor about the recent revaluation. Will those new numbers affect 2024’s tax bills? The answer is yes, those numbers will be used to figure 2024’s tax bills. Next Scheduled Board Meeting: The next regularly scheduled Town Board Meeting is set for Monday, October 14th, 2024. The meeting will begin upon the conclusion of the Public Hearing for changes made to the Town’s comprehensive plan. Both the Public Hearing and the regular monthly Town board meeting will be conducted at the Port Edwards Town Hall. Also scheduled at tonight’s meeting was the date for 2025’s budget preparation. It was decided to hold the preparation for next year’s budget on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, at 6:00p.m. This meeting will also be held at the Town Hall. Adjourn: Being no other business to conduct, O’Donnell made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:18p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Michelle Sorenson, Clerk
