Motion was seconded by Schmidt and the motion carried. Total disbursements for the month of
April were $36,932.84 with total revenues being $63,324.80.

Treasurer and Clerk Financial Reports: The Treasurer and Clerk reports were reviewed by
the Board. All reports balance. Total Town money as of April 30th, 2024, is $314,826.29.
O’Donnell made a motion to accept the reports as delivered. Schmidt seconded said motion.
Motion carried.
Correspondence: A landowner has voiced their concerns over the culverts on Birch Lane.
The landowner will gather information from the County and present it to the board.
Urban township maps have been redrawn to include more area. This allows us to qualify for
other grants.
Highway Superintendent Report: The crew is continuing to fill pot holes. Another new sign
has been put up on Coon Valley Trail. The west end of Lynn Hill Road is getting pretty torn up.
Highway guys have been grading on Creamery Road. B. Arendt has also been grading on
Creamery Road but not that well. The Town is in need of more gravel. Moody will contact the
County Highway Department to purchase additional gravel. Lastly, the brakes on the Sterling
are in need of servicing.
New Business:
Town Website: The current platform that the Town website uses is unstable. Marty wants to
move the website to a platform called SquareSpace. He believes this is going to be around for
a long time. The Town will see the cost increase to anywhere from $144 to $192. Other than
the increased cost, there are not many changes. Marty continues to build and manage our
website from the point of a user. The Township of Port Edwards will be the owner of the
website once the site goes live.
Waste Management: The board was able to meet Tim Miller at tonight’s meeting. He became
our contract representative when Waste Management absorbed Advanced Disposal. After
discussing the contract surcharge language, it was suggested that $4.20 be used as the
baseline price for diesel. Tim Miller will draw up an amendment to the Town’s contract and
submit it to the clerk for signatures at next month’s meeting. Having the opportunity to talk to
Tim in person at tonight’s meeting, the board asked if he would be able to assist a Town
resident with getting their garbage pickup rerouted. They live at 1003 Cranmoor Road and
most weeks has their garbage pickup missed because they’re the only Town resident on that
road. Meanwhile, the City of Nekoosa’s garbage pickup day is Tuesday and that Waste
Management truck actually turns around using this resident’s driveway. Yet they say they
cannot pickup the garbage because of routing restrictions. Tim took down the information and
agreed to look in to the situation.
Fire Call Reports: The clerk received two fire call reports from the Nekoosa Fire Department.
One was for a motorcross accident. A 16-year-old rider failed to land a jump and required
assistance resulting in transport to Marshfield emergency center. The Town board instructed
the clerk to bill the landowner of the business where this accident occurred. In addition to the
bill, the board also wants the clerk to inform the business of their need to apply for a
conditional use permit of said business.
The other call report was for recovery of a deceased patient. Nekoosa Fire Department’s
Kubota UTV was requested by the Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance Service to access and
retrieve the patient. The Town will not bill for this service.

Conditional Use Permits: The clerk presented the Town board with a current list of the active
Conditional Use Permits in the Township. It was requested that Scott Marty with his custom
meat processing business be moved to the inactive list. O’Donnell made a motion to renew the
list of active conditional use permits as put together by the clerk with the exception of Scott
Marty. Schmidt seconded said motion and motion carried.
Culvert: The highway crew was grading the west end of Lynn Hill Road and caught the culvert
with the grading equipment. The incident put a hole in the culvert. We share this section of
road with the Town of Cranmoor. The south half is ours and the north half is theirs. Estimates
for repair that included excavating and banding the culvert were $2,500. The cost for
replacement using a 30 inch by 30 foot new culvert is $4,000. Schmidt made a motion to
allocate up to $2,000 towards this culvert issue and O’Donnell seconded the motion. There
were no objections and the motion carried.
Highway Shop Modifications: Moody was given suggestions for engineers the Town could
use in order to comply with regulations for adding an additional garage door to the highway
shop. When researching this project again, Moody discovered the cost of the garage doors
themselves have gone down in price since last year’s estimates. Moody is still waiting on some
numbers for the updated quote.
Old Business:
Ruesch CSM: Moody has made telephone calls but none of them have been returned. There
is no new information on this issue.
Public input:
A resident noticed the garbage dumped on Kimball Avenue and Wilhorn Road has still not
been picked up. Moody will make another call to Wysocki (who owns the properties that were
dumped on).
An update on Kelnhoffer’s property was requested. He has not yet put up a fence around all of
his junk vehicles. The board informed the people present it has been a process that has
included fortifying the Town ordinances which will allow the board stronger enforcement
practices.
Next Scheduled Board Meeting: The next regularly scheduled Town Board Meeting is set for
Monday, June 17th, 2024, at 6p.m. This regular monthly Town board meeting will be conducted
at the Port Edwards Town Hall.
First Board of Review Meeting: The first Board of Review meeting has been set for Monday,
June 17th, 2024. This meeting will take place upon the conclusion of the regular monthly Town
board meeting. It will be held in the Town Hall and the only business to be conducted will be
adjourning the Board of Review to a later date due to the assessment roll not yet being
completed.
Adjourn: Being no other business to conduct, O’Donnell made a motion to adjourn the
meeting at 7:58p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Michelle Sorenson, Clerk
