ORDINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES Village of Whiting – Municipal Center 3600 Water Street, Stevens Point, WI 54481 Tuesday, June 2, 2026 – 6:00 PM 1. Call to Order Chairman Ben Lasecki called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 2. Roll Call Present: Chairman Ben Lasecki; Committee Members Troy Hojnacki and Paul Stroik. Also Present were several Village of Whiting residents. 3. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 4. Approval of Minutes – March 24, 2026 The minutes of the March 24, 2026, meetings were presented for approval. Ben Lasecki, the sole Ordinance Committee member present at the March 24th, 2026, meeting, approved the minutes as presented. Paul Stroik and Troy Hojnacki Abstain, not in attendance of prior Ordinance Committee meetings. 5. Discussion and Possible Action – Ordinance Review: Sections 4.08 and 4.09 Review of appointment and term language for consistency between the Clerk- Treasurer and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer ordinances, with possible action. The Committee reviewed Sections 4.08 and 4.09 of the Municipal Code to ensure consistency between the appointment and term language for the Clerk-Treasurer and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer positions. Following discussion, the Committee agreed to amend Section 4.09 to align the appointment language for the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer with the language used for the Clerk-Treasurer. The revised language provides that the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer shall be appointed by the Village President at the first regular meeting of the Board in May of odd-numbered years, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the Village Board. Motion by Paul Stroik, second by Troy Hojnacki, to recommend approval of the ordinance amendment to the Village Board. Motion carried. 6.
