Town Board Meeting
APPROVED on September 9, 2026
Elected Officials Present: Chairperson Kurt Drexler, Supervisor Wayne Trelka, Supervisor Leif Erickson, Clerk
Stacy Martin, Treasurer Sue Stroik
Others Present: Roger Skrzeczkoski, Susan Skrzeczkoski, Katrina Moscinski, Margie Wojcik, Bill Kiggins, Gary
Egan, Mary Erickson, Bill Harris, Jeff Stroik, Bonnie Fredrickson, Mark Fredrickson, Jim Birchler, Dan Zastrow,
Greg Brummund, Roger Dobbs, Karen Dobbs, Kathy Metzler, Les Metzler, Dave Erickson, Richard Metzler, John
Luck, Pam Luck, Jeff Stashek
1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairperson Drexler. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
2. Minutes from the July 8, 2026, Town Board Meeting were read.
Motion by Chairperson Drexler to approve the minutes after changing Highway G to Highway O in item
12c. Seconded by Supervisor Erickson.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
3. Chairperson Drexler moved to place the Treasurer’s report on file.
4. One Plan Commission item was mentioned: Chairman Drexler is inviting Plan Commission members to a
meeting in Stevens Point on August 20, which is part of the Portage County Zoning Ordinance Rewrite process to
gather perspectives to help inform the ordinance update process.
5. To proceed with splitting Roger and Karen Dobbs’ property for new property owner Ana Metzler, the certified
survey map was signed by Chairperson Drexler and Clerk Martin. The paperwork will be mailed to Portage County
Planning and Zoning for final approval and assignment of the new parcel number.
6. Supervisor Erickson would like the Board to set a policy to allow full-time Town employees to bank vacation up
to a maximum of four weeks. The Board agreed that a limit is needed on banking vacation time. The employee
handbook will be reviewed for any established requirements on this topic.
7. The Town has not yet received a final bill for the Lake Road culvert project. Chairperson Drexler noted that the
project is complete other than some minor asphalt work.
8. Clerk Martin brought forward the possibility for the Town to acquire Badger Books, a computerized alternative
to paper poll books and voter registration for elections. The electronic system could eliminate human error in
processing voters on election days, but the one-time fee to purchase the new system is substantial at $7500. She
suggested waiting for a potential Portage County pilot program that would grant Badger Books to municipalities at
no cost.
9. Clerk Martin mentioned an election security subgrant of $2000 offered by the Wisconsin Elections Commission
that she will be applying for. In order to qualify for the subgrant, our Town will need to have a Board-approved
elections emergency response plan, which she is currently drafting.
10. Chairperson Drexler outlined various considerations that would need to be addressed if the Town offers a
Farmers Market on the Town Hall grounds: zoning restrictions, liability issues with insurance, temporary setups
(nothing permanent), cleanliness, and community input. Greg Brummund was recently granted permission by
Chairperson Drexler to sell corn by the recycling center if he removed his stand from the premises at the end of
every day. Supervisor Erickson requested that any Farmers Market stands be located on the backtop in front of the
Town Hall to stay out of the way of the garbage haulers. Other concerns mentioned include sellers’ permits from
the Town, bathroom availability, littering, and supervision. The Board verbally agreed that the Brummunds may
continue selling corn on Town property until August 31, 2026, but the stand must be moved to the Town Hall
parking lot and it must be temporary (nothing can stay overnight). The Board will work on setting up a Farmers
Market plan over the coming winter.

11. Announcements and dates to remember:
a. Supervisor Erickson would like the Board to look into getting a couple window air conditioner units for the
town hall. He would also like to bring in a catered lunch for election workers for future elections.
b. The next Town Board Meeting is September 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
12. After hearing questions and concerns from the public –
Motion by Chairperson Drexler to pay bills and adjourn. Seconded by Supervisor Erickson.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
