1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Chairperson Drexler. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
2. Minutes from the June 10, 2026, Town Board Meeting were read.
Motion by Supervisor Trelka to approve the minutes as read. Seconded by Chairperson Drexler.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
3. Chairperson Drexler moved to place the Treasurer’s report on file.
4. No Plan Commission items were mentioned.
5. The Certified Survey Map (CSM) for Michael Helmuth is to remove the individual’s name from 5.7 acres of his
property and replace it with the business name for liability reasons. There is no zoning change. Surveyor, Tim
Rutzen, was present to answer questions. Chairperson Drexler signed the CSM.
6. Karen and Roger Dobbs’ property will be split for new property owner, Ana Metzler. The project has been
submitted to Portage County Planning and Zoning for approval, after which the Town will mention the new lot at a
future meeting.
7. The current hall rental agreement was compared to a draft version of a new hall rental agreement modified from
a homeowner association rental agreement submitted by Jeff Stashek. One notable addition since last month’s
review is that damages greater than the $100 security deposit will be invoiced to the Renter.
Motion by Chairperson Drexler to implement the new town hall rental agreement. Seconded by Supervisor
Erickson.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
8. One item was mentioned as a need for the Town’s Highway Department: a pressure washer that may cost around
$4000. Because of the Lake Road culvert bills coming due next month, Chairperson Drexler recommends
purchasing a less expensive pressure washer at Road Supervisor, Roy Skrzeczkoski’s discretion.
Motion by Chairperson Drexler to purchase a pressure washer for the Town garage for $700 or less, if
needed. Seconded by Supervisor Erickson.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
9. Town employees have completed the safety training videos. The hearing test is yet to be scheduled.
10. The dust suppression flake material was received in June and applied by Peter Albert Services to the Town
gravel roads east of State Highway 34. Wood County has a liquid product they can apply for $230 per hour labor
cost plus $100 per gallon product cost. Each 1500-gallon truck load will apply about ¾ of a mile. The cost estimate
for 8 hours of application is $3340, which is similar to the cost of applying the flake material.
Motion by Chairperson Drexler to proceed with the Wood County dust suppression product with an
estimated cost of $3340. Seconded by Supervisor Erickson.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
11. Because the tractor loan is paid off, Chairperson Drexler would like to put that money toward road work.
Supervisor Trelka outlined the process another town uses, called general obligation loans, to increase funding for
roads: They acquire a bank loan without collateral and place that money on a line item of the tax roll, charging the
1
tax payer for the bank loan. The other option is a levy increase this fall, which is also an increase to the tax payer.
Chairperson Drexler identified Town roads that require maintenance and the specifics of their severity of disrepair.
He emphasized the need to perform the necessary work to sustain these roads and that this work cannot continue to
be put off because of financial limitations.
12. Announcements and dates to remember:
a. The Local Disaster Plan is in the process of being updated and will need Board approval when complete.
The Town Board will meet at 8:00 AM on July 15, 2026 to update the Town’s plan.
b. The Lake Road culvert project is starting on July 13, 2026.
c. Cattle have been escaping a fenced property on Highway O and damaging a neighbor’s crops. If the
landowners cannot work together to find a resolution, the Town will be forced to get involved, which will
take much longer to resolve and be significantly more costly to the landowner.
d. Tim Rutzen notified the Board that the Town has a very outdated subdivision ordinance from 1995 that
does not comply with current state statute language. He suggested that the Board either update the
ordinance to match current state statute or eliminate the Town ordinance entirely and defer to the Portage
County subdivision ordinance that is currently being revised.
e. The next Town Board Meeting is August 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM
13. After hearing questions and concerns from the public –
Motion by Supervisor Erickson to pay bills and adjourn. Seconded by Supervisor Trelka.
3 ayes (Supervisor Erickson, Supervisor Trelka, Chairperson Drexler) / 0 nays. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted by: Stacy Martin, Town of Eau Pleine Clerk
