Board Meeting May — Minutes

May 14, 2025 - Town of Eau Pleine Board Meeting - APPROVED Attendance Elected Officials Present: Supervisor Leif Erickson, Supervisor Wayne Trelka, Clerk Stacy Martin, Treasurer Sue Stroik Elected Officials Excused: Chairperson Kurt Drexler Others Present: Mary Erickson, Roy Skrzeczkoski, Roger Skrzeczkoski Sr., Susan Skrzeczkoski, Bill Kiggins, Dave Erickson, Kathy Metzler, Roger Dobbs, Karen Dobbs, two representatives from GFL Environmental 1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Supervisor Trelka. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 2. a. Minutes from the April 9, 2025, Town Board meeting were read. Motion by Supervisor Erickson to approve the minutes. Seconded by Supervisor Trelka. 2 ayes / 0 nays. Motion carried. 2. b. Minutes from the May 1, 2025, Board of Review meeting were read. Motion by Supervisor Erickson to approve the minutes. Seconded by Supervisor Trelka. 2 ayes / 0 nays. Motion carried. 3. Supervisor Trelka moved to place the Treasurer’s report on file. 4. Supervisors Erickson and Trelka reported that upon performing the Road Review on April 26, they discovered that the town r oads were in much better shape than expected. Some culverts and road signs are needed to be installed yet, and since the culvert o n Lake Road will not be installed there will be more money in the Town’s budget for material on the roads and replacing culverts. 5. Supervisor Erickson explained that the Town is currently within the required window of 60 to 120 days before the expiratio n of the service agreement with Waste Management to cancel the agreement with a certified letter. A notice will need to be put in the paper looking for quotes/bids for a new 3 year contract for recycling and garbage pickup. Susan and Roger Skrzeczkoski Sr. no tified the Board that “Waste Management” was incorrectly identified as “Advanced Disposal” on the meeting agenda and in this discussion. GFL Environmental representatives notified the Board that they are interested in submitting a quote/bid. 6. Supervisor Trelka explained that assessor CJ Becker’s appraisal fee is $9,600 for the assessment year starting on Jan. 1, 2026. Motion by Supervisor Erickson to accept the assessor’s bid for $9,600. Seconded by Supervisor Trelka. 2 ayes / 0 nays. Motion carried. 7. Supervisors Trelka and Erickson discussed hiring a cleaner for the town hall, as the position has been vacant for some tim e. Supervisor Erickson requested that the cleaning position be filled after applications are filed with the Town. At the time of the meeting, no applications were on file for this position. The Board will hire the cleaning personnel at next month’s scheduled board meeting or earlier, if the Board calls a meeting. Motion by Supervisor Erickson to set the wage for the Cleaning Personnel at $15/hour. Seconded by Supervisor Trelka. 2 ayes / 0 nays. Motion carried. 8. Supervisor Trelka named four individuals selected to be Plan Commission Members. 9. Announcements: The next Town Board Meeting will be on June 11, 2025. Supervisor Trelka will not be present. Comments from Public • Roger Skrzeczkoski Sr. notified the Board that item #8 is an appointment by the Chairperson and the Chairperson needs to be included on the list. - The Board will correct this list and put it on next month’s agenda for approval. • Roy Skrzeczkoski notified the Board that he spoke with a representative from the DNR on the Town’s work installing a culvert for DNR in exchange for DNR compensation. - The Board will put this topic on next month’s agenda. 10. With no further questions or concerns from the Board or the public – Motion by Supervisor Erickson to pay bills and adjourn. Seconded by Supervisor Trelka. 2 ayes / 0 nays. Motion carried.
