Town of Christiana Smart Growth Committee Minutes Minutes: October 27, 2025 Location: Christiana Town Hall Call to Order Committee Chair Dawn Redford began the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Other committee members in attendance included Trent Bettenhausen, Hans Lein, Tom Jelinek, Lisa Juday, and Catherine Gottsacker. David Smithback was absent. Confirmation of Meeting Posting Notice of the meeting was properly posted on the Town Hall door and Town of Christiana website. Public Comment None at this time. Approval of Minutes A motion to approve the September minutes was made by Lisa Juday and seconded by Tom Jelinek. Public Participation Plan Update Dawn noted that the Town board should review the survey before it is published. Town of Christiana Comprehensive Plan Survey Update Along with revising the content of questions 7-16 to make requests for opinions less confusing, the committee decided to reorder some questions and be more consistent in how we ask for feedback. For example, rating the importance of each item as follows was preferred: 1 = Very Important, 2 = Somewhat Important or Not Sure, 3 = Not Important. Dawn pointed out possible differences between print and digital formats of the survey. Depending on the format, helpful background information may need to be included in the question rather than as a sidebar note. Regardless of the format, an introduction to clarify the intent and purpose of the survey will be added, and Dawn agreed to write a draft. All members are to bring up issues that still need to be addressed in this revision of the survey. November Meeting The next Smart Growth Committee meeting will be at 7 p.m. on November 24, 2025. Majid Allan from Dane County Zoning plans to make a presentation. Adjournment A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Tom Jelinek and seconded by Lisa Juday. The motion was carried unanimously, and the meeting adjourned around 8:45 p.m.
