Town of Bristol Parks Committee Meeting Agenda Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 5:30 pm @ Bristol Town Hall Notes I. Call to Order 5:30 by Tamara. Ben, Mark, Tamara, Scott, and Lindsay were present. II. Review and approval of minutes from May 2024 meeting Motion to approve by Mark, second by Scott, motion passes. III. Review Park Exploration week and plan for next year. Tamara noted that it should go longer next year. It created a good awareness. We should also make people aware at park clean up. Flyers should be in color next year. Also a map might help. IV. Discuss tree planting and grant application for Alliant Energy. Determine quantity and placement. Pearl Court and Sunset meadows should be part of the grant applications. The Pearl Court could use a single path to a sitting area from the park. Long term, we would like to return the Pearl Court to nature. We need to consider how to plant them. We may need to overplant. We should also consider water management. Mark and Tamara and Nancy to work on the grant and plan (Pamela too). Brooks Ridge trail could use a new tree. V. Review bridge cleaning and staining at Norway Road Park. We used 18 gallons of paint. The project is complete. VI. Update on software for scheduling. This needs to go to the board in the fall. Suzanne developed 5 options. The next step would be to go through demonstrations. Mark noted that tech support would be important to consider. Suzanne to go through demos with us. Tamara to respond within 2 weeks to Suzanne. Options 1 and 3 are the recommended ones to explore. VII. Discuss Pearl Court tree damage. Update: That has been cleared. VIII. Public Comment/Questions items not on agenda. Brooks Ridge trail is not being mowed. They have been alerted to mow within the week. There is a dead tree on the Brooks Ridge that needs removed. Tamara to call Dustin. There is a Praire tree with a tree marker that is dead. They are $45 to buy a new one. There is some type of issue with Drumlin trees, according to mower guy. They also asked that we trim the trees. I will send an email tree trimming. Pile them and let me know. We had a discussion on the gazebo in Sunset Meadow is not part of the parks property. IX. Next meeting will September 10, 2024 at 5:30. X. Motion to adjourn: Lindsay and second by Ben. Motion passes.
