TITLE: Town of Berry Town Board Meeting Minutes DATE: August 17, 2026 TIME: 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. PLACE: Town Hall, 9046 State Road 19, Mazomanie, WI 53560 POSTINGS: Town Hall and Town of Berry website I. CALL TO ORDER – ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Board members present: Duane Haag, David Evert, Michael Statz, Nichole Schwoerer and Derek Statz. Also present Clerk, Brenda Kahl, Patrolman, Lucas Danz and Attorney Mark Hazelbaker. II. CONFIRMATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH OPEN MEETING LAWS The Clerk confirmed that the agenda was posted at the town hall and on the town website. III. APPROVE MINUTES OF JULY 20, 2026 Motion D Statz/Schwoerer to approve the Town Board minutes of July 20, 2026. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS: You may address the Board on any item not on the agenda. Comments are generally limited to three minutes. V. PATROLMAN REPORT Boehnen’s will be surveying South Valley Road and then start the project in the next couple of weeks. Northwestern is scheduled to start pulverizing Scherbel Road on September 4 and then pave the following week. Have been cleaning and organizing the shop on rainy days. Finishing cold patching roads. Attended an informational meeting with surrounding town’s patrolman. VI. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: A. (R-2026-6) Scott & Dawn Evert, 8916 State Highway 19, rezone 5.06 acres from A-1EX to AG and approval of final certified survey map Motion Schwoerer/M Statz to approve Scott & Dawn Evert’s rezone of 5.06 acres from A-1EX to AG and approved the final certified survey map. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 B. (R-2026-7) Sundance Development, Brewery Road, rezone 126.36 acres from AG to SFR and approval of final certified survey map Motion Evert/M Statz to approve Sundance Development’s rezone of 126.36 acres from AG to SFR and approved the final certified survey map. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 C. (FR-2026-1) Fred Ballweg, Hill Point Road, field road permit application Motion Haag/Evert to approve Fred Ballweg’s field road permit application. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 VII. DISCUSSION/RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS RE: A. (V-2026-2) Whippoorwill, Randall Laufenberg, 7914 State Highway 19, variance application Motion Evert/D Statz to recommend approval to the Board of Zoning Appeals the Whippoorwill, Randall Laufenberg’s, variance request. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 VIII. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: DEMOLITION PERMIT APPLICATION FOR 8785 HIGHWAY 19 Motion Haag/Schwoerer to approve Clemens Excavating demolition permit application and bid for a total cost of $33,625.00. Motion carried. Vote 5-0. IX. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: NORTHWESTERN STONE CHANGE ORDER FOR SCHERBEL ROAD ASPHALT PROJECT Motion Evert/M Statz to approve Northwestern Stone’s change order for Scherbel Road at a cost of 30,800. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 X. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: SET DATE FOR WORKING BUDGET MEETING Motion Haag/Schwoerer to hold the working budget meeting on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 pm. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 XI. BUDGETARY MATTERS A. Discussion/action re: Payment of bills Motion Haag/Evert to approve the payment of bills. Motion carried. Vote 5-0. Check numbers 4576 & 20295-20335 XII. COMMITTEE REPORTS/CORRESPONDENCE/COMMUNICATIONS *Cross Plains Fire District: Approved the preliminary budget *District One EMS: Budget meeting is August 27 and Fire consolidation meeting on September 3 XIII.
