Supervisor/John Neuman went through all the questions and answers. Zoning/Jason Synder stated they are trying to work with property owners. There is a county zoning meeting coming up and the public is encouraged to attend. One thing that is not understood by many of the public is getting the property to pre-flood, 50% of value. Public/Tom O’Day feels the County does not want to have any residents by the river. It was asked if the 50% value rule comes from the state or county. Supervisor/Terry Wilz stated the 50% value rule is from the county. He also suggested to talk with a county board member, Joe Bartel, and to attend the zoning meeting. Public/Kyle Tews advised when filling out the forms for repairing a property and under the labor, if a resident is performing the work themselves, they must enter a fee of $75 per hour. He disagrees with this fee amount and disagrees that the zoning office workers are the individuals conducting the inspections. He was also advised by one of the zoning office workers, Candence, that the zoning dept really don’t want to have buildings/homes on the river. Supervisor/Terry Wilz explained the $75 per hour for labor fee. There was a survey completed with independent contractors and found $75/hour is an average that a contractor charges. Public/Al Biese from Gills on the Wolf, asked why Fremont has different guidelines. The reason is Villages have different guidelines than our township. Public/Joe Koeppl asked if our township can change to the rules like a Village. Supervisor/Terry Wilz explained that is very time consuming and we don’t have the manpower to do this.
