5. Minutes
Discussion and possible action on the following minutes:
A. Approval of Minutes of May 13, 2026 Regular Meeting
Hearing no revisions or objections from the committee members, Chair Hausman approved the
minutes from the May 13, 2026 regular meeting.
6. Citizen Comments
Larry McCann, W326 N3996 Nagawicka Avenue, Nashotah, WI, spoke about the issues with the
current weed collection schedule and would like to change the weed pick-up to once a week.
Hausman said he will follow up on the weed pick-up.
Seeing no one further who wished to speak, citizen comments were closed at 6:13 p.m.
7. Unfinished Business
Discussion and possible action on the following items:
A. “Welcome to the Lake” Program
Ellsworth said there is a house for sale, but no booklets were handed out.
B. Wakesurfing Recommendations, Notifications, Communicator Article
Hausman said more lakes are banning wakesurfing, but it has yet to be seen how the bans will
be enforced due to pending litigation. Hausman suggested the committee should continue to
keep an eye on what develops before any action is taken.
C. Erosion / Storm Runoff from East Side of Nagawicka Lake
Hausman spoke with Tom Hafner, City Administrator/Public Works Director, and the city needs
the easements to address the runoff along Lakewood Court.
The options for addressing the runoff are:
1. A full stabilization project, which would involve the use of vegetation, matting using seeds
and stones, etc. This would be a more expensive approach but would be a more
conventional and preferrable solution. The cost would be around $175,000 - $200,000 with a
DNR grant.
2. A budgetary approach would involve some flow stops or ditch checks; something to slow
down the water flow to the ditch. The cost would be around $50,000, which would be much
more cost effective, but not as effective as the full stabilization approach.
3. Do nothing.
In order for the city to proceed with getting the easements, they need a recommendation to
Common Council from the Lake Welfare Committee.
Motion by Susan McVey, seconded by Gayle Gaborsky, to recommend to Common Council to
pursue the easements along Lakewood Court for the storm runoff solution in the north side
ditch.
All in favor. Motion carried.
D. Aerators

No report
E. Nagawicka Lake Water Level and No-Wake Rules
Hausman reported the lake level meter is still being repaired. Currently slow-no-wake is in effect
at 10 inches above the max permitted water level by the DNR. Tom Hafner found that in the last
30 years slow-no-wake was instituted at 10 inches only three times and only five times at 8
inches, which includes the three times it was instituted for 10 inches. Hausman suggested they
do not change the no-wake level to 8 inches because it would not make much of a difference
and there is a potential for many complaints.
