Old Business
Affordable Housing Supply / Al Update / tabled
Guest Houses Peggy stated that the Town Board would like the Zoning Committee to clarify “guest house” rent-
als. Carl stated that in his opinion, the rental of guest houses, previously controlled locally, was superseded by
the State passing of Tourist Room Housing(TRA’s) regulation, Peggy agreed. Forest disagreed with Carl’s assess-
ment, stating that Presque Isle regulation of guest houses has been around for 40 years. Peggy stated whether
right or wrong, guest houses are presently being rented. Peggy would like the committee to come up with an
interpretation from the zoning committee, for the Town Board. Carl would like to do a little bit of investigation
on other local municipality & county does and will take that project on prior to the next meeting.
Section 902.6 and subsequent sections
6. New Business
Red Lake two lot subdivision Greg Maines brief the committee on land division presently owned by Schalow’s. The
Schalow's would like to peel off 4.2 acres for future development (on water) and sell the remainder of their parcel
(478942) to Dairyman’s, which owns the abutting property to the potential 36 acres. Forest was concerned that if
Dairyman’s did not complete the sale, there would be a 36 acre lot created, with no road access. 50’ road frontage is
required if the lot is stand-alone. Greg proposed that the revised deed state to the effect, Dairyman’s must buy the 36
acre lot(478942) for this division of land for town approval, before the two lots can be conveyed separately. Forest was
satisfied with deed restriction revision. Peggy motioned for approval to Town Board with discussed revised deed
restriction wording, Amy seconded, MC.

General Discussion:
Rick Ernst Real Estate Agent lot 22-1369 transaction on Oxbow. Rick briefed to committee as public comment relating
to sale/closing of 22-1369 and its potential construction difficulty. Greg Maines is part of the same property
development, specifically helping with a potential variance. Greg explained the building problem that may exist with the
75’ lake setback and 63’ setback off Maple Rd, making house/cabin design almost impossible. Forest added that the
setback for a “drive” is 30’, not 63’(road). There was a suggestion that if a road, the road might be able move to the
back portion of the property. Supposedly there was a gravel pit in the back portion, which has now turned into a
wetland. Forest suggested that if needed, the back portion would need someone to delineate if in fact it is a wetland.
The key to the situation is whether the access is a “road” or a “drive”. If defined as a “drive”, Greg said the problem was
moot. If defined as a “road”, Forest explained to Greg that the present owner should apply for a permit through
P.I.(Forest). Forest, based on Road vs. Drive decision, would deny the permit (Road), which would then up a request to
be addressed to the P.I. Board of Adjustment.
Status of Camping & Storage Containers regulation passed at least a year ago by the zoning committee with pending
county review & approval was discussed and will be a future old business agenda item.
Next meeting June 9 / 15:00
