Treasurer’s Report/Budget Ann Mawicke presented the Town of Presque Isle Fiscal Year 2026 financial report (as of June 1, 2026). The format was revised from prior reports. This discussion covered PITLC income and expense items from January through June 2026 only. 2024 grants (Little Horsehead, Oxbow, Crab, Horsehead/Armour, Annabelle): Whitewater invoices paid in January result in a net expense in the first quarter. 2025 grants (Little Presque Isle, Lynx, Wildcat, Carlin): Lake matching payments received in the first quarter 2026. 2026 grants (Big, Papoose, Presque Isle, Van Vliet): Initial DNR advance payments received which are approximately 75% of the $10,000 grants. Net fiscal year impact as of June 1: $27,285 in expenses, $29,890.38 in income, for a net positive of $2,605.38. Nick and Ann plan to file for the 2024 DNR final grant reconciliation payments before the end of August. Attachment 2 – Monthly Financial Report Correspondence See Lynx Lake/SWF below 6. Old Business a. Grant Status ( Attachment 1 ) 2024 Grants — Annabelle, Armour, Crab, Horsehead, Little Horsehead, Oxbow: DNR approved reports in late April/early May. Nick Williams and Ann Mawicke will be working on final reconciliation to collect the remaining grant balances from the DNR. 2025 Grants — Carlin, Little Presque Isle, Lynx, Round, Wildcat: Whitewater Associates doing analysis and reporting. Preliminary reports expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Lakes will also need to complete Chapter 5 (Action Plan) updates, including projected dates for future work. 2026 Grants — Big, Papoose, Presque Isle, Van Vliet: DNR advance funds received; summer field work scheduled. Ponar dredge sample results will not be available until approximately November, so confirmation of spiny water flea presence/absence will take time. Lynx Lake — Spiny Water Flea Update: Nick received correspondence from the DNR/Jaimie Vandenlangenberg indicating that netting and dredge sampling did not find spiny water flea in the samples taken at Lynx Lake. This does not confirm the lake is free of SWF — it was simply not detected in these samples. Nick will forward this correspondence to Jorja Burke to be included as Attachment 3 with the minutes. b. Library Basement Storage Status Jorja Burke organized the PITLC t-shirts; they are ready for distribution. Committee consensus confirmed shirts will be given away (not sold).
7. New Business a. Presque Isle Days Presque Isle Days is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Bob Heilman filed a vendor booth application, confirmed by Andrea at the Chamber. Bob will set up and take down, handling the first and last shifts. Proposed 2-hour shifts: 10–12, 12–2, 2–4. Volunteers are needed; members are encouraged to sign up. Judy Ruch will arrive early to assist with setup and has DNR educational materials for the booth. She also suggested setting up a small kids’ table to engage families and demonstrate Clean Boats/Clean Waters practices. b. Subcommittee Updates
i. Grants Ann and Nick continue to manage active grants. Discussion will start in future meetings as to which lakes to consider for the next grants. ii. Signage Lynx Lake signs are installed. High water signs: All high water signs installed May 1 were stolen. The responsible party is unknown. iii. Communications / Outreach / Orientation (Judy Ruch) Judy Ruch leads outreach. She has a supply of DNR educational materials for the Presque Isle Days booth and for lake association annual meetings. The committee plans to develop a welcome packet for new lake residents. The group plans to create a PDF of materials so any lake can order and assemble materials on their own. Order quantity minimums are large so some lakes will need to work together to order materials and share them. Materials are free to order, but the DNR now requires payment for postage. The Lakes Associations currently distributing packets to new members are Annabelle/Sue Engeseth; PI/Kathy Curtis; Van Vliet/Ronie Jacobsen and Carlin/Judy Ruch. Judy would like to receive sample packets from each of these lakes for her files. iv. Invasive Rapid Response (Nick W / Paul L) No progress since last meeting; Nick has been otherwise occupied. Development of reporting procedures remains on the to-do list. Paul Lewandoski confirmed he remains a volunteer for the rapid response team.
c. I-LIDS (Invasive Lake Invasive Detection System) Sarah Sisbach presented information on I-LIDS (I-LIDS), a solar-powered, magnetically-activated device installed at boat launches. How it works: Metal activates the device as boats approach; it plays customizable voice messages (up to 3 messages) educating boaters about AIS prevention. A camera records video of launches and can capture boat/trailer identifying information. The unit can run up to 20 hours/day, 7 days/week, and is mounted on concrete in tamper-resistant housing. Models and pricing: Three models available: $4,750, approximately $7,000, and $15,000. There could be discounts offered by the vendor for multiple units. Monthly maintenance fee approximately $375 (adjusted for low-traffic landings); the provider reviews all video and forwards questionable footage to the lake association. Connectivity: Unit operates on cell service. A workaround exists for intermittent cell coverage (local recording). Solar power may be limited at heavily tree-shaded landings. Contact: Noah Baumann, noah-baumann@lake-shield.com. Website: lake26.org/eyelids.html. Noah is visiting the area in July and can conduct site visits. Sarah will organize a Zoom informational meeting with Noah. Those interested in participating should contact Sarah Sisbach. Information packet will be distributed to the full PITLC list. Discussion included vandalism concerns (unit is bolted to concrete, tamper-resistant; camera in tamper-proof housing), cell signal issues, and solar limitations at tree-shaded sites. d. Papoose Lake — 501(c)(3) Status Paul Lewandoski announced that the Papoose/Rosalind Lake Association is pursuing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. He requested copies of determination letters, bylaws, and/or articles of incorporation from lake associations that have already filed. 8. Next PITLC Regular Mtg July 14, 2026, 7:00pm via Zoom
9. Adjourn Meeting adjourned by Nick Williams @ approximately 7:58pm. Unapproved minutes WILL BE APPROVED AT THE NEXT MEETING.

Attachment 3 – SWF Correspondence Nick From: Vandenlangenberg, Jamie M - DNR Sent: Monday, June 8, 2026 1:04 PM To: dean.premo@white-water-associates.com ; carole.gabbard@white-water-associates.com ; jesse.gabbard@white-water-associates.com ; thewds@milwpc.com Cc: ggruca1@yahoo.com ; cfbehr@gmail.com ; Gauthier Sr, Kevin J - DNR ; Catherine Higley Subject: SWF in Lynx update Good Afternoon Everyone, I just wanted to share that I collected a SWF dredge sample at the deep hole of Lynx Lake on 5/26 and sent it to the state lab, which results came back as negative, meaning no SWF were found in the sample. While finding additional SWF specimens in a dredge sample would not give us the evidence needed to confirm a living population of SWF in Lynx Lake, if we had found one, or many, we would have more evidence of the potential for a population. What this may tell us is that if there are SWF in Lynx lake, they are likely in low numbers. WDNR and Vilas Co Land and Water do plan to collect SWF zooplankton tows this summer in August still. If no SWF are discovered I will try to make it out for a second day of pulls yet this year, if time permits. Question for the Town of Presque Isle and Whitewater, do you have plans to do any additional sampling this year? Thank you to everyone who has helped on this effort!
