Town Board Minutes – January 12, 2012

WESTBORO TOWN BOARD Chairman Tim Roiger called the meeting to order on January 12, 2012 at 6 p.m. Present were supervisors Steve Peterson & Eldred Gumz, Clerk Julie Scott, and Road & Maintenance Director Jeff Peterson. Treasurer Denise Johnson was absent. Also present were Ed Schlosser, Gene Lucia, Rosemary Rindt, Harry Stroik, Bryan Strobach, Jim & Bernice Koch, and Ed & Joyce Peterson. S. Peterson/Gumz motioned to approve the minutes of December 7 th , 19 th , and 27 th meetings as printed. Motion carried. S. Peterson/Roiger motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report as submitted. Motion carried. VFW Post 7817 has agreed to turn the building over to the town. A special meeting will be held to finalize details. An attorney will draft the quick claim deed. Jeff Peterson stated the Conservation Club will now be named “Westboro Fish & Wildlife Inc.”. Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to amend the maintenance agreement for Cooper Dam incorporating the organization’s new name. Motion carried. Duchiens Lake will be discussed at a later date. Jeff reported on the filling of the sand shed; Decker Lumber coming to finish items on building; culverts and signs have been received. He also reported on the dollar per mile for General Transportation Aids. (Clerk e-mailed this info to Board in November 2011). Taylor County Sheriff’s Dept. has recovered eleven town signs which had been stolen. Our signs are stamped and town wants the thieves prosecuted. Following discussion, Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to post Zimmerman Road South to 45 ton weight limit, effective immediately. Motion carried. Roiger/Gumz motioned to make no changes to the wage rates for part-time road/cleaning/recycling employees. Motion carried. Roiger/Gumz motioned to hire PC Doctors to install internet service for the firehall at a cost of $1,300 plus installation ($50 per hour, estimated to take between 2-6 hours). Motion carried. This would also assist in the camera set up for the dumpsters. Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to hire Perrin’s Surface Solutions to install tiling in the firehall back office and hallway at a cost of $3,162.36. Motion carried. Grout is not sealed; Tim agreed to seal the meeting room floor this weekend. Gumz/Roiger motioned to approve the request by the Westboro Trojans baseball club and Sno-Dusters snowmobile club for issuance of a Temporary Class B license for an event to be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the VFW Hall. Motion carried. S. Peterson/Gumz appointed Gwen Roiger and Duane Rademacher to serve three-year terms on the Library Board. Motion carried. Roiger/S. Peterson motioned to approve payment of bills #16481-16559 in the amount of $383,389.85. Motion carried. Letter was received from Ayres Associates about the Silver Creek bridge borings. Comments about the fire department equipment van purchase from Rice Lake. The next meeting was set for Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. Gumz/S.
