Town Board Minutes – June 28, 2011

SPECIAL WESTBORO TOWN BOARDThe meeting was called to order by Chair Tim Roiger on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Presentwas supervisor Eldred Gumz, Clerk Julie Scott, Treasurer Denise Johnson, and R&M Director JeffPeterson. Supervisor Steve Peterson was absent. Also present were Rosemary Rindt, Harry Stroik,Violet Thums, Marlene Rymer, and Bob Shook.Roiger/Gumz motioned to postpone action on installing concrete in the sidewalk median on Bus. Hwy.13 until later in the year pending availability of funds. Motion carried.Roiger/Gumz motioned to approve the requests from Tammy K. Thums of Tipsy’s Bar & Grill atN8820 Bus. Hwy. 13 and Douglas E. Kempen of Korner Bar at N8847 Bus. Hwy. 13 for CombinationClass B Licenses for the period of July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012. Motion carried.Gumz/Roiger motioned to approve the issuance of several annual operator licenses as reported by theclerk. Motion carried.Roiger/Gumz motioned to purchase from Stratford Signs a 4’ x 8’ wooden sign at a cost of $840 forthe new building. Motion carried. Gumz/Roiger motioned to approve the installation of two kitchenlights with receptacles brought up to code in the community building kitchen by Martin Wiese Electricat a cost of $450.00. Motion carried.Discussion was held on Change Order #5 submitted by Decker Lumber Company as follows:a. Install vinyl baseboards in the basement meeting room, library office, and balcony office/stepsat a cost of $1,068.50. The plans/specs called for its removal due to asbestos but thereplacement thereof not included in the plan/specs.b. Install Vct tile on the stairs going up to the balcony office at a cost of $937.00.Roiger/Gumz motioned to reject Change Order #5, motion carried.Switlick & Sons submitted a proposal of $1,500 for materials/installation of a pipe for the rain gutter.Roiger/Gumz motioned to approve this proposal, motion carried. Gumz/Roiger motioned to reject theproposal submitted by J.D. Harries to construct a town office desk unit. Motion carried.Jeff reported on other issues with the town hall remodeling project. Estimates will be received forinstallation of co-ax cable. Steve Peterson agreed to donate the cable. Updates were given on therouter/rack/port system/telephone/internet needed for the new library/offices.Discussion was held on the bill of $1,344 received from Mavo for asbestos removal. The originalcontract stated $2.00 per sq. ft. so Roiger felt that this price should be honored by the company for thebalance of the project. This item was tabled for price negotiation with the company.Roiger/Gumz motioned to approve purchase of 17 yards of top soil at $6.50/yd. from KennedyConstruction for the park. Motion carried. Kennedy agreed to level the topsoil at no charge.Roiger/Gumz motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Motion carried.Julie Scott, Town Clerk
