Monthly Bills The Town Clerk talked about the Forthun fire call, noting that a second letter had been sent because there was no reply to the first one. The Clerk also presented a new Fire Call invoice for review and discussion. Mike Isaacson made a motion to approve the monthly bills, which was seconded by Joe Becker. The motion passed.
Monthly Budget Review The monthly budget was reviewed.
Residents taking sand from the municipal sand pile The board discussed whether residents should be charged for taking sand from the municipal sand pile. They decided that there would be no fee for reasonable quantities—typically up to a couple of 5-gallon buckets. Larger amounts will incur charges determined on a case-by-case basis. The town will continue monitoring the area using security cameras.
Tree Trimming/Equipment Contract The Town Clerk presented a lease agreement for the bucket truck, owned by Troy Shulner, for use in Spring tree trimming. The contract with the Town of Drammen is ready, requiring only dates and signatures to finalize. Mike Isaacson made a motion to approve the agreement which was seconded by Joe Becker. The motion carried.
New Plow Truck Discussion During their previous inspection, the Town Board identified notable cracks in the side fairing. The Town Chairman will contact the salesman to determine if the issue can be repaired prior to the town taking possession of the vehicle this summer.
Scenic Road Culvert Replacement Supervisor Joe Becker stated that after re-measuring the culvert, he found it was not the 72-inch diameter recommended by the county. The Town Clerk presented a County Bridge Aid Data Form from the Eau Claire County Highway Department (ECCHD) for the board’s review. This form must be completed and returned to ECCHD for a cost analysis and potential cost sharing of up to 50%. Joe Becker offered to complete the form and give it back to the Town Clerk for submission.
Chairman Update on Beaver Issue The Town Chairman provided the board with an update regarding his recent conversation with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources concerning the beaver situation on Sunny Nook Road. The primary focus of the discussion was the necessity of obtaining approval from the adjacent landowner to access the property in order to clear the mud and debris obstructing the culvert. The Chairman indicated that he would speak with the landowner and seek permission to enter the area this Spring once the thaw is complete.
Election Split Shift/Worker Documents The Town Clerk submitted two documents for consideration and approval pertaining to the forthcoming elections: Ordinance 26-01, which establishes split shifts for election officials, and Resolution 26-01, which amends the number of election officials required. The Town Clerk referenced relevant Wisconsin State Statutes mandating these documents to permit two shifts for election workers and to reduce the minimum number of inspectors to three. A motion to approve was made by Joe Becker and seconded by Mike Isaacson. The motion was approved.
Clerk Updates The town clerk provided the board with updates on several administrative matters that did not require any action from the board.
Public Input Town member and recycling employee Greg Lampman told the board that Peter Schmitt, another recycling worker, will be away from work for at least three months starting in mid-February due to surgery. He added that he and Gary Gritzmaker could manage the extra work but might need some assistance. Supervisor Mike Isaacson will take action if necessary.
Motion to adjourn at 7:44 p.m. was made by Joe Becker and seconded by Mike Isaacson. Motion carried.
