My name is Emily McFarland, the uew Execulive Director of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities. After
serving as a mayor, I understand firsthand the privilege, and responsibility, of local government leadership. I've sat
where you sit, worked through difficult budgets, and made decisions with my community's best interests in mind. It
is truly an honor to now serve Wisconsin's cities and villages in this role, and I look forward to partnering with you
as we continue strengthening local government across our state.
Since 1898, the League has been the trusted voice for local government, providing advocacy at the Capitol, legal
guidance, training, educational resources, and opportunities for municipal leaders to connect and collaborate.
Simply put, our mission is to help you succeed by equipping you with the expertise, resources, and support you
need to best serve your community.
Because we know thoughtful planning is essential to local government, we want to provide you with your 2027
membership dues information in advance of your budgeting process. The League Board of Directors met on July
16th to establish the 2027 membership dues. Member dues account for approximately 43% of the League's income
with the remainder from League Insurance's growing support (19%), business memberships (8%), programs,
sponsorships and marketing revenues(30%). For Mazomanie, the dues for 2027 will be $1358.59, payable in
January 2027. This letter is not a bill, that will be forthcoming.
This amount was calculated using the League's standard formula, which accounts for changes in population and
property value. While the formula remains consistent, the Board approved a 1 % increase in overall dues,
equivalent to an additional $17,000. Despite this increase, your municipality may experience a small increase, a
decrease, or no change at all, depending on how the formula affects your specific data.
This modest increase will support key League initiatives in 2027, including:
• Enhanced training and education delivery
• Expanded government affairs and lobbying efforts
• Upgrades to core operational technologies
Also included with this letter is a "League by the Numbers" infographic. We created this piece to provide a quick
snapshot of the League's services, programs, and financial stewardship. We hope it offers a clear picture of the
work we do every day and demonstrates the value your membership investment makes possible.
One of the best ways to maximize the value of your League membership is by taking advantage of the programs
and services available to your elected officials and staff. To support your community's full participation in League
programs, we recommend budgeting $800-$1,200 per team member (staff or governing body) for conferences,
training, and events in 2027. This estimate includes registration, travel, and lodging.

The municipality will be required to conduct a revaluation prior to or during the 2027 or 2028 assessment year

correspondence letters are mailed.
• For budgeting purposes if the municipality were to conduct one of the revaluation options for the 2027
assessment year the estimated total cost would be as follows:

$10,000 +$15,000 +$1,250 +/- = $26,250 +/-
Maintenance Exterior Revaluation Mailings Total
$10,000 +$40,000 +$2,250 +/- = $52,250 +/-
Maintenance Full Revaluation Mailings Total
$10,000 +$45,000 +$2,250 +/- = $57,250 +/-
