Call to Order and Roll Call The meeting of the Sustainability Committee was called to order at 6:00 pm. Present: Committee members Trustee Jed Henry, Melissa Gavin, Jenny Dedering and Cat Larsen. Also Present: Public Facilities Director Matt Couey and Trustee Michael Pomykalski II. Public Comment There were no public comments. III. General Business 1. Committee Member Reports. Jenny Dedering informed everyone that the Energy Grant money given to Rosemary Garfoot Public library to replace lighting has helped them see a reduction in energy usage. 2. Discussion and Possible Approval of the March 11, 2026 Sustainability Meeting Minutes. A motion was made by Dedering, seconded by Gavin, and unanimously approved by the Sustainability Committee to approve the March 11, 2026, Meeting Minutes. 3. Discussion Regarding Filling Vacant Seat and Introduction of Committee Members. All members gave an introduction and background of themselves. There was discussion on recruiting members to fill vacant seats. 4. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Election of a Co-Chair. Discussion on electing a Co-Chair to step in and lead meeting if Trustee Henry cannot attend. A motion was made by Dedering, seconded by Larsen and passed 3-1 with Gavin abstaining, to appoint Gavin as Co-Chair. 5. Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency Goal for the Village of Cross Plains. Discussion on setting goals for the Village of Cross Plains to become more energy efficient. The original goal of 100% renewable energy by 2035 from 2018 would be hard to complete with the now shorten deadline. A motion was made by Dedering, seconded by Gavin and passed 3-1 with Larsen abstaining, to present a new goal to the Village Board of 80% Renewable Energy in Village Operations by 2035. 6. Discussion on Education and Community Outreach Initiative and Demonstration Project. Discussion on how to boost sustainability in Cross Plains. Adopt a storm drain, Eagle Scott projects, create a Video, reach out to Focus on Energy, and a Village solar tour were all discussed as possibilities. 7. Discussion on Sustainability Plan Being Incorporated into the Village's Comprehensive Plan. Discussion on replacing the 2018 Comprehensive Plan with the 2028 version. Dedering offered to update and format the recommendations to present to the Village Board. 8. Discussion and Possible Action of Sustainability Plan implementation Discussion on implementing the Plan. Discussion on Village Hall Time Capsule. Discussion on the idea of a Time Capsule within the New Village Hall building. Ideas to be brought up at future meetings. 9. Adjournment A motion was made by Gavin, seconded by Dedering, and unanimously carried by the Sustainability Committee to adjourn. Meeting ended at 6:55 pm.
