at 5447 West Netherwood Road. Kay explained that the Board of
Supervisors is working with property owners to resolve the concern.
6. Public Works Report
a) School bus stop on Purcell Road: tabled
b) Safety concerns at uncontrolled intersection of County MM
and Kennedy Park Road: the Committee has received a
response from Charlene Schmid, Highway Engineer, Dane
County Highway and Transportation, 09/03/2025. The
intersection does not meet Dane County’s criteria for installing
crosswalk markings, as there are no existing sidewalks or curb
ramps. The Committee discussed a variety of traffic calming
measures that could be considered in lieu of crosswalk
markings and reducing speed limit to 35 mph:
• asking the County to move the 55 mph sign farther
south (past the intersection of MM and County A;
• posting signs to alert residents to the entrances to
Kennedy Heights Park and Bicentennial Park;
• installing orange flags to alert motorists driving south
from Brooklyn that speed limit is dropping to 45 mph.
• LeBrun will follow up with Charlene Schmid
Motion: Committee recommends that the Park Committee
arrange to have signs on Hwy MM announcing the entrances to
Kennedy Heights Park and Bicentennial Park. Kay (1); Pultz (2):
motion carried
c) Movable message board: Kay reported that Board of
Supervisors has approved the Committee’s recommendation
to add this item to the 2026 Budget.
d) Follow-up on why speed study was done on Glenway Road
from Glenway Circle northbound to Lincoln Road. Tabled.
LeBrun will follow up with Dane County Sheriff.
7. Raven Oaks Project cost overrun—Because of discrepancy between the
Town’s measurement of tonnage of gravel required and the amount of
tonnage of gravel charged to the Town by Payne and Dolan, the Raven Oaks
Project came in with a $50,000 plus overage (invoice $517, 334). Committee
members have re-measured the distances using three different methods and
conclude that Payne and Dolan should reduce the invoice by $10,00 to
$15,000. Motion: the Road and Traffic Safety Committee recommends that
the Board of Supervisors approve payment of $506,080.18 to Payne and
Dolan. LeBrun (1); Crawford (2): motion carried

with DNR)
