CITY COUNCIL MEETING TUESDAY DECEMBER 12, 2023 7:00 P.M. Mayor Jason TePaske called the Regular meeting of the Augusta City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were council members Sue Troxel, Bruce Stabenow, Patricia Wessel, Bob Chaffee, and Brian Leslin. Also present were Gordon O’Brien, Scott Williamson, Kasandra Thompson, and Cynthia Anderegg. Absent: Leslie LaRose Pledge of Allegiance ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF PROPER POSTING A notice of the meeting and an agenda was posted at the three public places and the local newspaper was notified. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Chaffee seconded by Leslin to approve the agenda. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Motion by Chaffee seconded by Wessel to approve the minutes for the following meetings: November 14th City Council meeting and Public Hearing; November 30th Budget Hearing and Special City Council Meetings. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT None APPROVAL OF DEPARMENT REPORTS Motion by Chaffee seconded by Troxel to receive the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried. Motion by Troxel seconded by Leslin to approve the Police Department Report. Motion carried. Motion by Troxel seconded by Chaffee to approve the Senior Center Report. Motion carried. Motion by Chaffee seconded by Troxel to approve the Library Report. Motion carried. Motion by Chaffee seconded by Troxel to approve the Public Works Department Report. Motion carried. ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT OF SENIOR CENTER ACTIVITY ASSISTANT – PAT GABLER Pat Gabler spoke to the Council about her enriching experience and enjoyment working at the Augusta Senior and Community Center. She also suggested areas the council could have more involvement and ongoing improvements for the center. CONSIDER APPROVING APPOINTMENT OF POLL WORKERS FOR 2024-2025 RESOLUTION #2023-1212A Motion by Troxel seconded by Stabenow to accept the clerk’s appointment of poll workers for the 2024-2025 term and approve Resolution # 2023-1212a. Motion carried. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF PEMBER COMPANIES, INC. PAY APPLICATION #1 – REPLACE WATERMAIN PEASE ST RAILROAD CROSSING Motion by Chaffee seconded by Leslin to approve Pay Request #1 for Pember Companies, Inc. – Replace Watermain Pease St Railroad Crossing project in the amount of $16,555.02. Roll call vote: Ward 1, yes; Ward 2, yes; Ward 3, yes; Ward 4, yes; Ward 5, yes. Motion carried. CONSIDER APPROVAL RAILPROS INC. OBSERVER INVOICES – REPLACE WATERMAIN PEASE ST RAILROAD CROSSING UTILITY BORING PROJECT Motion by Troxel seconded by Wessel to approve Observer invoices for RailPros, Inc. – Replace Watermain Pease St Railroad Crossing project in the amounts of $28,970 and $21,400. Roll call vote: Ward 1, yes; Ward 2, yes; Ward 3, yes; Ward 4, no; Ward 5, yes. Motion carried. DISCUSS FUTURE PLANS FOR CITY OWNED PROPERTY ON BALDWIN ST. – FORMERLY WELL #7 SITE Motion by Chaffee seconded by Leslin to Table until the January 9, 2024 Council meeting. Motion carried.
