PARK COMMISSION MINUTES March 6, 2023 Meeting called to order 9:33am Commission members in attendance: Fred Belay, Jennifer Meyer, Kathy Alf, Tom Roach, Barb Kleist, Dean Kallenbach and Tony Bischel Adopt Agenda; motion made by Fred/sec Kathy and passed Approval of January 10, 2024 minutes; motion made by Jennifer/sec Tom and passed Financial Report Total expenses paid in January and February $ 853.06; motion to approve report made by Fred/ sec Tom and passed Work Log to be approved: Fred Belay 2 hrs. @ $15 = $30, Tom Roach 2 hrs. @$15 = $30 for tree cutting. Barb Kleist 4 hrs. @ $15 = $60 for camera work and trip to Fleet Farm and Menards to purchase bucket and grit for ice issue at Sherman Creek also reimburse $ 26.00 per receipts for items purchased; motion to approve work log and reimbursement made by Kathy/sec Tony and passed Parks Discussion Sherman Creek-The bucket placed at Sherman Creek Park is no longer there. The grit was dumped out and bucket was taken. Jennifer is working on contacting teachers who might be interested in utilizing the parks for educational purposes. The goal is to have a teacher driven program in place with the Commission in a supportive role. A motion to approve up to $300 for the purchase of materials to improve the entrance at Sherman Creek Park was made by Kathy/sec Barb and passed. Fred and Tom will be moving forward with the project. Conservancy-The quote from Buesser Concrete for the pavilion upgrade was discussed. There were some questions regarding the quote. Does it include all the work involved in upgrade per Cedar Corps plan? The corner bracing was specifically questioned. Jennifer is contacting them to get clarification. A motion to approve Pavilion Upgrade by Buesser Concrete contingent upon it including all work involved per the Cedar Corp plan including corner bracing, up to the budgeted amount made by Jennifer /sec Barb and passed Kate Felton from Eau Claire Outdoors did not attend. The Commission had several questions about the possible events at the Conservancy she is planning. Dean will reach out to her with some questions and invite her to attend the April meeting. The Commission will review the Town of Union Parks Municipal Code for the April meeting. New Business Add updating the Town of Union Parks Municipal Code to work plan for 2024.
