PARK COMMISSION MINUTES October 4, 2023 Meeting called to order 9:31am Commission members in attendance: Fred Belay, Jennifer Meyer, Kathy Alf, Tom Roach, Barb Kleist, Dean Kallenbach and Tony Bischel; guest Dennis Mack from Cedar Corp Adopt Agenda; motion made by Fred/sec Tom and passed Approval of September 6 minutes; motion made by Jennifer/sec Tony and passed Financial Report Total expenses paid in September $ 1,992.99 Total YTD $ 12,441.90 motion to approve report made by Fred/sec Tom and passed Work Log: -0- hours reported Approve payment to Cedar Corp of $ 2,872.35 for drafting plans for Pavilion safety/ enhancement; motion made by Barb/sec Tom and passed Members and Guests Dennis Mack from Cedar Corp attended to discuss the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant and other grant possibilities. He presented “Request for Statement of Qualifications” for a possible Town of Union Trail. This would assist the Town with selecting a qualified firm to provide the consulting Services needed to accomplish the Study. It was determined that the October 27, 2023 deadline was not reasonable to pursue. The next application deadline in 2025 is more realistic. Brainstorming for a possible project will be addressed later this year. Dennis feels the Commission can do the legwork on the study prior to the 2025 application and at that time apply for a design grant. Parks Discussion 4-H Pleasant Hill Go Getters did Fall clean up at Sherman Creek Park. They received the $ 500 donation from the Commission approved in September. Fred and Tom will be checking out the trails at the Conservancy before the wagon rides during the Fall Event October 14. They will also be putting up some signs. Landmark’s Mushroom Event was held September 23 at the Conservancy. Fred attended and reported the majority of the attendees were from outside the town.
