The evening was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and heartfelt recognition of the dedicated individuals who make a difference in the lives of children every day. It was a wonderful opportunity for staff and volunteers to connect, unwind, and honor the commitment and compassion our advocates bring to their work. We are grateful for each and every one of them, and this event was a small way to say thank you for the big impact they make. Page 24 of 40 Volunteer Spotlight Amanda Marg My name is Amanda Marg. I completed my CASA training at the end of 2022. I first heard of and became interested in CASA when I was in college so I was excited when I read about CASA in St. Croix County. I am just finishing my third CASA placement. It has been an eye opening, humbling and learning experience being involved with children in the court system. I am thankful for the social workers, the GAL, the judges and for everyone involved in CASA. I grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana. I received an Industrial Engineering degree from Iowa State University and began working at 3M in Cottage Grove, MN where I met my husband, Andy. We moved five times with 3M (including Michigan, Indiana and Ontario). We moved to the Hudson area in 2009. Our four daughters graduated from River Falls High School. We have three grandchildren. No matter where we lived I was able to find people to play volleyball with. I continue to play a lot of volleyball now – including traveling to the National Senior Games. I also enjoy hiking, reading and spending time with my family. We attend church at The River Church in River Falls. Elmore’s message deeply resonated with attendees, emphasizing that every child deserves to be truly seen, heard, and valued. He highlighted how the presence of one caring advocate can change a child’s entire life trajectory— echoing the core mission of CASA volunteers. The event not only raised awareness but also significantly strengthened community commitment to child advocacy. Guests left with a renewed sense of purpose, inspired to take action, support CASA programs, and champion the well-being of vulnerable children. Overall, the GALA stood as a powerful reminder of the difference one caring adult—and one unified community— can make. This year, our CASA GALA delivered an inspiring and impactful evening dedicated to strengthening advocacy for children in the child welfare and foster care system. This year’s keynote speaker, Gaelin Elmore, shared his powerful personal story of growing up in foster care—an experience marked by instability, resilience, and ultimately transformation. His candid reflections shed light on the emotional realities children face and the critical need for consistent, compassionate adult support. Page 26 of 40 Year in review Court Appointed Special Advocates supported 56 children this year, with 27 placed in a Safe Permanent Home. 29 cases remain ongoing. Special Advocates work to create sense of safety to build trust. On average, Special Advocates contribute over 104 hours of their personal time to provide emotional support and advocacy spread over 56 children that is 5,824 hours. Thanks to you that equals a mighty big impact for children in need. The Volunteer Hour Value Calculator equates to $128,128 this year. On Average cases were open 16 months with the most common being 13 months open. As we close out the year, we reflect on the children in our community who need someone to stand by their side. Gaelin Elmore said, “Children don’t owe you a thing. It is adults who owe children.” At CASA of St. Croix, our volunteers advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect—ensuring they have a voice in court and a chance for a brighter future. Meet Emma When Emma entered foster care at age 7, she felt scared and alone. She had been moved to three different homes in just six months. Then she met her CASA volunteer, Sarah. Sarah became Emma’s consistent voice—attending every court hearing, speaking up for her needs, and making sure she stayed in the same school. Today, Emma is thriving in a safe, permanent home because someone like you made it possible for Sarah to be there. This holiday season, you can make that same difference for another child. Your gift provides a child with a trained advocate who will fight for their best interests, every step of the way. Please make your year-end gift today. Together, we can ensure every child feels heard and valued.
