Others Attending: Mayor Katie Berman, Clerk-Treasurer Tammy Kasal, Public Works Director Matt Decur, and Danielle Lemke-University of WI-Madison Division of Extension. Chair Klimek called the meeting to order at 3:31 p.m. Motion by Sievert and seconded by O’Neill to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried 3/0. Motion by O’Neill and seconded by Sievert to approve the November 11, 2025 meeting minutes. Motion carried 3/0. Drees Center AM & PM classes: Health and Well-Being Educator Danielle Lemke from the University of WI-Madison Division of Extension gave a summary of the classes being offered at the Drees Community Center Monday through Friday (see attached) in conjunction with the Parks & Recreation Department. Discussion was held on the days and times of the classes and any potential conflicts with other renters. If the City has a request for a rental time that conflicts with any classes, Lemke would cancel the class with at least a twenty-four hour notice. Landmark update and demolition: The asbestos removal of the Landmark building at 310 Oconto Ave. has been completed and the grade level windows have been boarded up. The roof will be tarped when the weather allows. Balestrieri Environmental & Development, Inc. completed the asbestos removal and estimates the demolition of the building, the removal of the foundation, and backfill of the site to be approximately $120,000. Discussion was held on bidding the demolition portion of the project. The removal of any soil contamination would be included also and would be bid by the ton due to the uncertainty of the amount to be removed. Outside funding for the demolition project is being explored. Motion by Klimek and seconded by Sievert recommending Council approve advertising for bids for demolition and soil remediation for the Landmark building at 310 Oconto Ave. Motion carried 3/0. City Hall/Drees Community Center CIP upgrades: Discussion was held on CIP upgrades for City Hall and the Drees Community Center. Installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors at the Community Center was discussed. As the building currently meets building code and it is only a daily rental facility with no sleeping quarters, it was decided to make no changes at this time, but to consider installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the future in combination with another project on the building.
