Motion by Reilly second by Mulcahy to refer the item to the Police Committee. Motion carried, with Wedige abstaining. Street Department – Turpin had no general updates. The Committee discussed a cracked curb on Virtue Street that a resident had reported. Turpin stated that M &M Concrete had poured it, but it likely was cracked during snow plowing. Mayor Dan Morrissey mentioned several street related issues and requested the Committee take a look at them to get repairs scheduled in the future. Sewer Utility Updates – Kleiber updated the group regarding an issue at the clarifier that he had been working on. Morrissey thanked the city employees for fixing the issue and commended them for all helping and saving the money by doing the work themselves. Kleiber commented that the wet testing would be done soon and that the EPA inspections had good results. 2 Street Committee Meeting – May 13, 2026 Clerk’s initials_______ Electric Utility Updates – Doyle updated the committee that boring work would continue. He brought up the Badger Park project and a possible increase in the required size of the electric transformer for the project. Doyle recommends they use the smaller of the two sizes, 150 vs 300 and that the larger transformer would only be needed if every outlet in the park is used at the same time. The initial cost for the larger transformer is only $5k but it will also cost more in day-to-day use. Doyle also commented that he needs to purchase a new tool, a 12-ton wire press/crimper at a cost of $5924.00. Motion by Reilly second by Wedige to approve the purchase of the new tool. All aye, motion carried. Water Utility – Trejo updated the Committee that he plans to do fire hydrant flushing on May 26th and 27th. The also stated his CCR annual report is completed and can be viewed online. He discussed the DNR sanitary survey and stated they found two deficiencies related to the fluoride vent and control outlets. September 30th is the deadline to have the repairs done. He also reported that state water sampling results have been good. He will be attending the SWWO Conference next week and has been working on filling the swimming pool. The Committee discussed a fire hydrant at 460 South Galena Street and whether or not it could be moved or removed in order to accommodate a resident’s garage. Trejo stated the requirement is to have one hydrant every 600 feet, so it could be removed because of the hydrant on Hillside Court. There was further discussion about whether to move it or remove it, but the committee wants to wait to hear from the Building and Zoning administrator to see if the location for the new garage is feasible. At 10:01a.m. a motion was made by Mulcahy second by Wedige to adjourn. All Aye, motion carried. Janelle Schumacher City Clerk/Treasurer
