CITY OF SHULLSBURG
PARK COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
A Park Committee meeting was held April 8, 2026 at the Townsend Center Community Room, 190 N.
Judgement Street, Shullsburg, Wisconsin. Committee Chair Cheryl Mulcahy called the meeting to order at 9:40
a.m. Notice of the meeting was posted in the following locations: Shullsburg Community Townsend Center,
Shullsburg Post Office, and Turpin’s Home Town Grocery. Roll Call – Cheryl Mulcahy, Dan Morrissey, Duane
Wedige – Present; Others present: Nick Doyle, Emmett Reilly, Dave Turpin, Jose Trejo and Janelle
Schumacher.
Motion by Morrissey second by Wedige to approve the minutes of the March 11, 2026 meeting. All aye,
motion carried.
Shelter House Electrical Panels – The Committee discussed repairs on the electrical panels in the
shelter houses at Badger Park and potentially needing to have work done on the rock surrounding the panels.
Morrissey suggested hiring a local electrician who has already done work at the park, and would consider this a
maintenance item and not something that needs to be included in the renovation project. There was also
discussion about how the electric work for the Park project will be completed, where the source will be and
whether there will be vault under the field and whether the power source will be at the museum. This will need
further discussion with Delta 3 Engineering.
Badger Park WiFi – The Committee discussed having WiFi throughout the park, since it is already
available at the museum building and swimming pool. Schumacher will contact Comelec to discuss options for
expanding it to other areas, specifically for keyless entry access to the shelter houses, roundhouse and dugout
storage.
Pickleball Equipment – The Committee discussed the possibility of renting out pickleball equipment
from the pool bathhouse for the summer. Morrissey offered to buy two sets of equipment to get the process
started.
Museum Interior Design Process – The Committee briefly discussed the next steps in the museum
interior design process. A survey had been sent out and historical information has been discussed with some
residents. Schumacher noted that the Wisconsin Historical Society Outreach team is a possible resource who
would help with collaboration and recommended a virtual meeting in the near future.
Museum Content Restoration – CRDN provided a report of items that had been sent to an art
conservator for evaluation and would like input as to whether or not the items should be fully restored or
returned to the City after the cleaning process was complete. The Committee will refer this to the City Council
for further review and discussion at its next meeting.
Museum Content Storage - The Committee briefly discussed needing to store the museum contents
until the building is built; options include the new cold storage building, the city garage or possibly the school
The Committee will refer this to the City Council for further review and discussion at its next meeting as well.
At 10:27 a.m. a motion was made by Wedige second by Morrissey to adjourn. All aye, motion carried.
Janelle Schumacher, City Clerk
