Library Board Minutes 08/12/2026

The Berlin Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order on August 12, 2026, at 4:30 by Secretary Carrie Blazel. In attendance were Trustees Blazel, Draves, Durtschi, Malchetske, and Rainboth. Director Chris Kalupa was also in attendance. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Rainboth to approve the minutes of the July meeting. Passed. Moved by Malchetske, seconded by Rainboth to accept the monthly bills for July. Passed. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Rainboth to accept the Treasurer’s report for July. Passed. Moved by Matchetske, seconded by Guertler to approve the Board of Trustees President, Treasurer, and Secretary as signers on all financial accounts. Current officers are President Kay Roethel, Treasurer Bob Malchetske, and Secretary Carrie Blazel. Passed. Discussion was held regarding Trust financial accounts. Treasurer Malchetske will have additional information at the September meeting. Library Director’s report: complete copy attached to official minutes. Trustee Draves reported on Friends of the Library activities: Farmer’s Market fundraiser, June/July children’s book sale, and DVD sale to be held in August. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Blazel to convene into closed session pursuant to the provisions of Section 19.85(1) (c), Wisconsin Statutes, for discussion on performance evaluation of Library Director. Passed. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Rainboth to reconvene into open session and take appropriate action as a result of closed session. Passed. Moved by Guertler, seconded by Rainboth to accept the Personnel Committee’s recommendation. Passed. Motion made by Rainboth and seconded by Guertler to approve expenditure of up to $100 for flowers for Board President Roethel. Business for future agenda: elevator upgrades, carpeting, Carnegie outdoor painting, and window replacement. Moved by Malchetske, seconded by Rainboth to adjourn at 5:34 pm. Passed.
