Village of Benton March 31, 2025 Special Meeting Minutes 1 Members present: Scott Cruse, Chuck Wartner, John Perkins, Kenneth Farrey, Jill Knight Absent members: Cal Robbins, Joe Slater Village employees present: Sonya Silvers Others Present: Andy Kurtz via telephone The special board meeting of the Benton Village Board was called to order by Village President Scott Cruse at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room of the Benton Business Incubator Building at 244 Ridge Avenue on Monday, March 31st, 2025. In compliance with the open meeting law, proper notice of the meeting had been posted in four public places: the Zephyr Depot, Benton State Bank, Benton Post Office, and the Benton Business Incubator Building. The Congressional funding is not happening this year, and Vierbircher is encouraging the village to reapply for 2026. It will cost the village an additional $1500.00. The board would like to proceed with the 2026 application. Vierbircher is working on updating the letters of support. Scott Cruse will submit an updated letter as the current village president. Monday, April 7th is the application deadline. Scott asked Andy Kurtz to update the summary for the project and send it to the board. Motion (Farrey, Perkins) to approve proceeding with the 2026 Congressional funding application with Vierbircher. Voice-all ayes.
