Village of Benton January 25, 2023 Special Meeting Minutes Members present: Scott Cruse, Chuck Wartner, John Perkins, David Ralph, Cal Robbins, Jill Knight, Kenneth Farrey Absent members: Village employees present: Sonya Silvers Others Present: Michelle Savatski The Special board meeting of the Benton Village Board was called to order by Village President, Scott Cruse, at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Benton Business Incubator Building at 244 Ridge Avenue on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. In compliance with the open meeting law, proper notice of the meeting had been posted in four public places; the Zephyr Depot, Benton State Bank, Benton Post Office, and the Benton Business Incubator Building. The Lafayette County EMS support of protest resolution #2023-03 was presented. Motion (Farrey, Perkins) to approve the Lafayette County EMS support of protest resolution #2023-03 as presented. Roll-all ayes. Carried The Lafayette County EMS petition in support of protest was presented. Motion (Wartner, Farrey) to approve the Lafayette County EMS petition in support of protest as presented. Roll-all ayes. Carried Resolution #2023-02 creating the Community Development Authority of the Village of Benton was presented. Motion (Robbins, Knight) to approve resolution #2023-02 creating the Community Development Authority of the Village of Benton as presented. Roll-all ayes. Carried Scott announced the appointment of the commissioners to the Community Development Authority Board. Per the resolution, there needs to be two Village board commissioners and they will be: Scott Cruse and Ken Farrey. Per the resolution, there will be five non-Village Board commissioners and they will be: Michelle Savatski, Renee Wartner, Carol Alexander, Dave Halloran, and Bill Bastian. Motion (Perkins, Robbins) to approve the appointment of Scott Cruse, Ken Farrey, Michelle Savatski, Renee Wartner, Carol Alexander, Dave Halloran, and Bill Bastian to the Community Development Authority Board of commissioners. Roll-all ayes. Carried The by-laws for the Community Development Authority were presented. Motion (Ralph, Robbins) to approve the by-laws for the Community Development Authority as presented. Roll-all ayes. Carried Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. Motion (Perkins, Robbins) to adjourn. Roll-all ayes. Carried
