PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE – 05/21 / 2026 M EETING MINUTES Page 1 of 1 PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MINUTES – MAY 21 , 2026 MEETING The meeting was called to order by Councilor Elm at 6:00 p.m. on May 21 , 2026 , in Government Center Room 2 04 . 1 ROLL CALL MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilor Tylor El m-Chair , Councilor Mike Herrick, Councilor Sarah Anderson, Councilor Joe Radtke-Alternate CITY STAFF PRESENT: Fire Chief Camron Vollbrecht, Police Chief Paul Winterscheidt, Police Sergeant Nicholas Eastman, Administrative Assistant Nikki Kalan 2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.1 Public Safety Committee ( 04/16/2026 minutes ) MOTION to approve by Councilor Herrick , second by Councilor Anderson , and carried. 3 RECURRING BUSINESS 3.1 Police and Fire Department Updates 4 OLD BUSINESS 4.1 Discussion on Towing and Disposal of Large Vehicles, Trailers, and Boats MOTION to hold in committee by Councilor Herrick , second by Councilor Anderson. 5 NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Election of Officers 5.1.1 Election of Chair MOTION by Councilor Herrick, second by Councilor Anderson and carried to elect Councilor Elm as Chair. 5.1.2 Election of Vice-Chair MOTION by Councilor Anderson, second by Councilor Elm and carried to elect Councilor Herrick as Vice-Chair. 5.2 Approval to waive the “ official bidding process ” , to recommend and approve the contract with Hastings Air Energy Control in the amount of $62,785.00 for the North End Fire Station Plymovent Vehicle Exhaust System Removal System, and forward to the full City Council for approval – Request from Chief Vollbrecht MOTION to approve by Councilor Anderson , second by Councilor Herrick , and carried.
