1 Annual Meeting April 21, 2026 Town of Schley Annual Meeting Minutes – April 21, 2026 Town Chairman Klimek called the Annual Meeting of the Town of Schley to order at 6:01 p.m. at the Schley Town Hall. Pledge of Allegiance Roll call: Klimek, Brown, Leopold, Podeweltz, Dallman Verification of posting of meeting notices by Town Board. Attendees read the minutes from the April 15, 2025 Annual meeting. Angela Cummings motioned to accept the minutes, 2nd by Jeff Podeweltz. Motion carried on a voice vote. Financial report reviewed. Dallman explained how the revenue accounts work with year end balances being higher because of tax payments that are paid to the County, MAPS, and NTC in January. The town hall construction loan should be paid off in February 2030. There were no questions. Jane Severt motioned to accept the report, 2nd by Jeff Podeweltz. Motion carried on a voice vote. Brown stated that the Town Spring Clean-Up is scheduled for 5/9/2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Flyers will be handed out on recycling Saturdays. Ads will be in the Foto News. Bo Bennish is providing the service this year. Klimek stated that they will get rough estimates on laying blacktop by the handicap areas in the Town Hall parking lot. Schroepfer has been working on leveling the parking lot. Klimek stated that sealed bids are being accepted for 4,000 yards of ¾ inch road base gravel to be placed on segments of Town Hall, Townline, Heineman and Schielke Roads. Sealed bids are being accepted for 1,200 yards of granite to be placed on Vascheau Road from Town Hall Road to County Road X. Brushing work was done this past winter. Replacement culverts will be done on Prairie Drive, Vascheau Road, and County Line Road. The Town applied for a LSSIP grant to replace the concrete box culvert on Heineman Road. Annual report overview for Town of Russell Fire Department was reviewed. There were 52 calls for service in 2025. The Town of Rusell First Responders annual report was reviewed. There were 299 calls in 2025. Open book will take place on April 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Board of Review is on May 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rich Grefe provided information on building permits issued in 2025. Owner of the Amish built cabin on Mosser Road did reimburse the Town for mileage and time to travel to Loyal for inspections prior to the cabin being placed. 2 Welker reported for Planning Commission. In 2025, there were 20 land use applications, 1 land division, 1 conditional use, 1 rezone, 1 permit re-write, and 1 Town ordinance updated. The Commission provided 21 recommendations to the Town Board. Welker attended various meetings with Lincoln County Land Services Committee and Lincoln County Broadband Committee. Next year’s Annual meeting will be held April 20, 2027 at 6:00 p.m. at the Schley Town Hall. Agenda items will be the same as 2026, with the exception of Town Hall parking lot and landscaping.
