Minutes of Town Board Meeting – February 10, 2025 Chairperson Klimek called the meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Schley to order on February 10, 2025 at 6:01 p.m. at the Schley Town Hall. Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call – Klimek, Brown, Leopold, Dallman, and Podeweltz. Verification of posting meeting notices by Town Board. Brown motioned to approve the minutes from the 1/13/2025 Town Board meeting and 1/15/2025 caucus, 2nd by Leopold. All ayes. Motion carried. Brown motioned to accept the treasurer’s report, 2nd by Leopold. All ayes. Motion carried. Reports from Town Officers: Leopold stated that the maintenance crew did a temporary fix to the stop sign that was knocked down on Trout Road. Klimek stated that snowplowing was done on Saturday. Forty hours of brushing has been done this winter; there are 2 days left to do on Mosser Road. Brandt will be coming to the town hall to put the fire extinguishers in cases. Public Comment: None. Brown motioned to pay bills and transfer $407,000 for general bills from the money market to checking account, $300 from the Occupancy bond account for Jerry Stephens bond return to checking account, and $53,081 from the construction account to the checking account; 2nd by Leopold. All ayes. Motion carried. Town Board reviewed various town hall rental rates from other Lincoln County Townships. Merrill Fire Department has yet to come to the town hall to establish maximum occupancy so we can get an insurance rate. Tabled to March meeting to gather more information. Town Board reviewed the dates for the WTA district meetings and Board of Review training. Decision made to buy a Board of Review training DVD from UW-Extension, which ends up being much cheaper and the Board can review together. Training will be completed prior to the Board of Review meeting. Building inspector contract was reviewed. Motion by Klimek to accept the contract with two items added: timesheets to be turned in quarterly and must attend 2 meetings per year, including the annual meeting, 2nd by Brown. All ayes. Motion carried. Open Book with Hoffman Appraisal Service will be scheduled for April 23, 2025 at from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and Board of Review will be scheduled for May 13, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Annual meeting is scheduled for April 15, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Planning Commission: Welker provided an update on the Beyer gravel pit. Conditional use permit expires in September 2025. Mathy Construction Company bought the gravel pit in 2023. If they decide to renew, it will have to go back through the conditional use process with a public hearing. Welker provided broadband updates. Recommendation from Lincoln County Broadband Commission to select Bertram Communication LLC as the sole preferred BEAD grant program Internet Service Provider (ISP). The draft ISP endorsement statement will go to the County Board for consideration. Welker provided an update on the annual housing report for the Town of Schley, which gets completed by the Town assessor. According to the report, we had 2 single family homes added and 2 single family homes deleted. Next meeting: March 10, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.- monthly Town Board meeting. Next month’s Agenda items: Annual meeting agenda, Town Hall rental, Open Book and Board of Review date reminders, Grading contract There being no further business, motion to adjourn by Brown, 2nd by Leopold.
