July 2021 Minutes

Clear Lake Civic and Commerce aka Clear Lake Community Club Meeting Date July 12, 2021 Members Present: Stephanie Binstock, Amy Strobach, Tanya Jo Roth, Cindy Soderberg, Ture, Lisa, Ashton & Zoey Duden, Rodney Fall. The meeting was called to order by Stephanie. Secretary’s Report: The minutes from the June meeting were reviewed. There was two corrections: on the number of cars in the derby, it should read 98 cars and the Brat Sale dates are July 15 & 16 and August 19 & 20. Amy made a motion to accept the Secretary’s Report with corrections, seconded by Lisa, motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: The report was reviewed. Cindy made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Lisa, motion carried. Old Business: Derby financials were reviewed from the May derby. The derby promoters asked if we could hold another derby in the fall, October 9th with Ashton Duden running the derby. There was some discussion and a decision was tabled until our next meeting. Clear Lake Days Update: Overall the event went well. Definitely need more help next year – not enough volunteers. Decided to enlist help from businesses, groups etc. The new ride company Badgerland had mixed reviews. Some questions for next year are to ask for more rides, rides where small kids could ride with parents. more games. The company did have mechanical issues with some equipment and also issues with not enough workers. We will talk with them and see if we have more choice with which rides they bring and maybe try to find more room for more rides. The trailer used for a stage needs work. We will look into what all is needed and decide how to proceed. There was talk of outside vendors coming in during Clear Lake Days to sell their food or goods, but not set up for all of Clear Lake Days. We will look up what our past policy has been and proceed accordingly. Farmer’s Market Update: The market is at the Sandbox on Wednesdays. The old sign on the highway needs to be taken down or updated to the correct day and time. Movie in the Park Update: the movie event in the park will be on August 7th, at the Chalet with Footloose playing. Brat Stand Update: There is a new grill at the brat stand purchased by VFW and Clear Lake Community Center. Next brat stand day is August 19-20th.   New Business: Kulpepper & Meriwhether Circus contacted us to hold a circus at the end of July. The details came to us late and the time was too short to hold the event successfully so we decided against it for this year. Amy made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Rodney.
