CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order by Chairperson Strelitzer at 2pm.
PRESENT : Travis Stuczynski, Nic Lea, Dave Crubaugh, Jodi Patoka, Pat Strelitzer, Brian Swan & Rich Stuczynski.
REPAIR OF DRIVEWAY BY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON LACONIA ST : A large pothole has formed at the driveway by United Methodist Church and 203 Laconia St. over the winter from plowing. The village owns the small strip of land between these two properties, but it is of no benefit to the village. The committee is looking at dividing this small strip of land up between the four property owners that surround it. This is on hold until the village hires a new attorney. Staff will get a quote on fixing this hole along with the other asphalt patches needed from the water main breaks. Exit Bob Lane at 2:20 p.m.
REVIEW OF DRAFT OF BRUSH SITE USE AGREEMENT WITH THE TOWN OF AMHERST: This agreement will remain in effect for one year and be reviewed annually by both the Village of Amherst and the Town of Amherst. This would be the same for the Village of Nelsonville. Motion from R. Stuczynski to recommend the agreement to the village board. This will be on the agenda for the village board to approve at tonight’s meeting.
DISCUSSION OF BRUSH SITE POLICIES GOING FORWARD: Signage will be added to the brush site that the brush site is for the Village of Amherst & Town of Amherst residents only. There was a suggestion to add the WI state statue rules for trespassing. T. Stuczynski had a picture of a sample sign. A 4×8 sign will be ordered similar to the “City of Gaylord” example adding “Violators will be prosecuted” and “No Trespassing” leaving room to add the Village of Amherst Jct. if they decide to sign the brush site agreement. Also want to get five smaller signs for the bins (top soil, gravel, sand, etc.) with a sign that says, “Take what you can shovel”. Strelitzer will get pricing on signs.
DO WE WANT TO CON TINUE BURNING IN THE FALL? : It was suggested that the brush pile be burned now so we can start fresh when the other municipalities start bringing their brush.
REVIEW OF STAFF RECOMMENDA TIONS FOR USE OF EXCESS FUNDS BUDGETED FOR WASHINGTON ST REPAVING PROJECT: Nothing to report at this time, still need a quote for making the road wider.
FENCE ISSUE AT 215 WAKE ISLAND DR : Property owners are now selling their house; they are ok with moving the fence to the lot line. Received quote from American Fence for $500. Motion from R. Stuczynski to have American Fence move the fence to the property line for $500.
BID FROM AMERICAN FENCE FOR ADDITIONAL RAILING AT FREDDIE’S HOME PLATE: The railings at FHP are not ADA Compliant. It was recommended by Midwest Independent Living Choices to correct the fencing. Several other people have also voiced their concern. The village is responsible if someone gets hurt. The railing was donated by Legacy Steel and Bull Welding. It was suggested that we check with both of them to see if they have any suggestions on how to make it compliant.
PURCHASE OF STIHL POWER SWEEP ATTACHMENT: Received a quote from Jerry’s Small Engine for a Stihl power head with a sweeper and trimer for $779.00. The money saved from the purchase of the paint sprayer will be used to buy this sweeper/trimer. Motion from Swan to recommend the purchase of the Sthil power head, trimer and sweeper.
Meeting adjourned at 3:06pm.
Respectfully submitted, Jodi Patoka Clerk/Treasurer
