MEETING MINUTES
LINN SANITARY DISTRICT
August 12, 2026 5:30 p.m.
Linn Town Hall, Zenda
Present: Ted Peters, Jim Livingston, Rob Eppley
1. Ted Peters called the August 12, 2026, Linn Sanitary District business meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
2. No public comments.
3. Motion to approve the July 9, 2026 meeting minutes. J. Livington/R. Eppley. CU.
4. Motion to approve the July 2026 Treasurer’s Report. R. Eppley/J. Livingston. CU.
5. Old Business
a. Rick Dorgay reported from the county LURM office is working on two system upgrades. Ted is not sure if
the two are from the list of three or four that show the most need or are from the list of twelve that was given
to Rick.
b. Code enforcement. The latest code enforcement list included external property issues but nothing septic or
POWTS system related.
c. The newsletter has been sent to the printer for printing and mailing.
d. The committee discussed the possibility of another survey of residents. Possible questions include asking
whether residents are still on board with the current use of POWTS and holding tanks. Also to be considered
is asking, “What do you know about what you have?” The UW Extension office can not help with the survey.
The do not have funding for such projects. Baxter & Woodman could set up the survey but it will be costly.
6. New Business
a. Ted described a possible project with the GLEA to study the groundwater flows around the Hillside Creek
(not Harris Creek as listed in the agenda). This area (the stream, not the road culvert) was identified by the
GLEA as having abnormally high bacteria counts. The GLEA would conduct more frequent studies of the
creek watershed to see if a location of the contamination could be better determined. Ted plans to look at past
inspections to see if there are common issues in the neighborhood. The committee agreed to look further into
the feasibility of this project. Jim pointed out that there is money in the budget for inspections if the project
were to be started this year.
b. One bill for $222.00 for the annual post office box rent was presented. Motion to pay the post office box
rent. R. Eppley/J. Livingston. CU
7. Future agenda items: 3, 4, 5.a, 5.b, 5.d, 6.a, 6.b.
8. Next meeting date. September 10, 2026. 6:00 p.m.
9. Motion to adjourn. 6:50 p.m. J. Livingston/R. Eppley. CU.
