The group was in favor of the proposed Bird Scooter expansion area acknowledging that while there’s always the standing concerns of safety, speed, and nuisance calls regarding the electric scooters, many of these problems come from privately-owned scooters and not always the Bird Scooters. The Committee recommended approval of the expanded scooter area and that City Staff continue working with the Bird Scooter company in monitoring and quickly removing mis-parked or abandoned scooters. ii. The Committee also reviewed a proposed ordinance change to be taken to a future City Council meeting for Ordinance 10.09, which clarifies language regarding electric scooters and the difference between motorized scooters and electric scooters to be in line with the language in Wisconsin State Statute 340.01(15ps). This ordinance change has nothing to do with the Bird Scooter area expansion request and is an unrelated topic; the Committee has no concerns with the proposed language changes. c. Water Street Trail Project Progress Update. i. Rinka presented the trail design plan concepts and went through the project from west to east highlighting and discussing the various proposed changes to the trail and added features, seating, and aesthetics along the new bike path. The group was supportive of what they were seeing and had one request to add a bike connection from between the street to the sidewalk at the bend in the road at 5th Street. 6.
