POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MEETING
Tuesday, July 21st, 2026
12:00pm
Members Present: Mr. Whitrock, Ms. Shiefelbein, Mr. Hodgson, Mr. Noskowiak
Not Present: Mr. Fochs
Others Present: Mr. Fox, Mr. Deaver, Mr. Howard, Mr. Kunst, Mr. Wolf, Ms. Zarecki, Mr.
Giese, Bobby Sullivan, Kelly, Peggy, Mr. Thauer, Mr. Noel
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Whitrock called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ms. Schiefelein moved to approve the minutes of May 19th, 2026. Mr. Niskowiak seconded, and
the motion carried.
3. PERSONS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION
Chief Deaver and Deputy Chief Sullivan presented an Award of Appreciation to citizen Kelly for
her heroic actions during a residential fire. Kelly alerted the occupants by repeatedly knocking
on the door, allowing them to wake up and safely evacuate the home. Commission President
Whitrock also thanked Kelly for her quick thinking and heroic efforts, recognizing the significant
role she played in ensuring the residents' safety.
4. CORRESPONDENCE
Correspondence was shown digitally.
5. NEW BUSINESS
a. Approval of Vouchers
Mr. Hodgson moved to approve the vouchers as presented. Ms. Schiefelbein seconded
the motion, and the motion carried.
6. REPORTS
a. Fire/EMS
Chief Deaver presented the Fire Department's newsletter as written.

Chief Deaver went over staffing, and the challenges of recruiting. Staff shirts now have a
barcode on the back that can be scanned, leading to job information and application. Staff
continue with trainings, and Deputy Chief Howard is one week away from graduating with this
masters degree.
b. Police Department
Chief Fox presented the Police Department report as written.
Department’s newest officers are moving through the field training process. Lt. Kontos has done
great overseeing the field training program. Staff have continued with trainings and inservice.
Cops and Bobbers had a great turn out, donations continue to come in to support this event and
Shop with a Cop.
7. SUCH OTHER BUSINESS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW
None.
8. ADJOURNMENT
Ms. Shiefelbein moved to adjourn the meeting, Mr. Hodgson seconded the motion, and the
motion carried.
