MEETING MINUTES South Central Library System Board of Trustees August 27, 2026 Present: Nancy Foth, President; Mary Nelson, Vice President; Joe Bachmann (online); Richard Bloomquist; Bill Clendenning; Susan Feith; Joan Fordham (online); Latonya Jackson-Flynn (online); Gary Poulson (Online), Henry St. Maurice; Amanda Smith (online). Administration: Shannon Schultz, Director; Kerrie Goeden, HR & Finance Coordinator (online). Excused: M. Howe, Secretary; G. Carter Absent: C. Clark; M. Jorgensen, Treasurer; T. Palkowski; J. Tilleson; J. Wright Recorder: Megan Doyle, Office Manager 1. Call to Order and Introductions N. Foth called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m. Dax Burroughs, Chair of the Portage County Board of Supervisors was in attendance. 2. Approval of the Previous Meeting Minutes Motion by B. Clendenning to approve the minutes of the 7/23/2026 Board of Trustees meeting. Seconded by H. St. Maurice. G. Poulson abstained. Motion carried. 3. Review of the Financial Statements K. Goeden provided an overview the financial statements. 4. Presentation and Approval of Bills for Payment Motion by N. Foth to approve bills for payment in the amount of $691,970.13. Seconded by M. Nelson. Motion carried. 5. Reports a. Committees i. M. Nelson reported that the Budget & Finance and Personnel Committees met virtually on August 13, 2026, to review the final draft of the 2027 budget, wage grid and director’s salary. The committees recommend approval of the 2027 budget and will make that motion at the September meeting. b. Director’s Report i. S. Schultz shared updates from the Director’s Report. Report is available in the documents online. 6. Presentation: Financial Statements Overview K. Goeden provided a refresher on the financial reports and reviewed how trustees should review the reports when examining the financial statements and bills. The presentation slides are available online. 7. Announcements and Information Sharing N. Foth reminded the Board of the Cornerstone Event, which is taking place at the Goodman Community Center at 5:00 p.m. on October 8, 2026. S. Feith and H. St. Maurice shared concerns from Wood and Columbia County libraries regarding potential data centers coming to their communities. S. Schultz reminded the Board of the Board Appreciation Potluck, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. prior to the September 24, 2026 meeting. 8. Next meeting: September 24, 2026 Bill Examiner is M.
