May 7, 2026 TOWN OF PESHTIGO Fire Commission Minutes Thursday, May 7, 2026 12:00 Noon Members present: Dave Buechler, Dale Edlbeck, Jim Meyer, Lou Ann Seils and Karen Sylvester Members excused: Others Present: Fire Chief Mike Folgert, Assistant Fire Chief Rich Seils Chair Dave Buechler called the meeting to order at 12:00 pm. 1. Agenda: Motion (Seils/Edlbeck) to approve agenda. Motion carried. No negative vote. 2. Minutes: Motion (Sylvester/Meyer) to approve minutes of September 18, 2025. Motion carried. No negative vote. 3. Election of Chair: Motion (Sylvester/Edlbeck) to nominate Dave Buechler as Chair and cast unanimous vote. Motion carried. 4. Election of Vice Chair: Motion (Seils/Buechler) to nominate Karen Sylvester as Vice Chair and cast unanimous vote. Motion carried. 5. Status of new Pierce Fire Engine 205: • Driven by staff to the Fire Station, December 26, 2025 • Final cost $740,703.28 • Placed in service March 14, 2026 • First call March 15, 2026 • Outfitting for tools and accessories • Creating list of minor repair issues covered under warranty which will require an “out-of- service” of approximately two weeks. • During “out-of-service” period, equipment will be transferred to Engine 207 for utilization 6. Recommend Disposal Options for old Engine 205: Motion (Edlbeck/Sylvester) to recommend Town Board authorize Fire Department personnel to advertise Engine 205 for sale through Marinette County Fire Association to local municipalities and other local interested parties, accepting sealed bids for a two-week period, minimum bid $10,000. If unable to negotiate sale of Engine 205 through sealed bid process, proceed with utilizing the service of online sale vendors, while establishing new acceptable minimum offer. Motion carried. Fire Chief Report: • 50 runs to date this year • 20 roster members – one firefighter transferred to Menominee Department; 2 firefighters added • Department will increase recruitment efforts • Emplify 5K Run – April 25, 2026 • Moose Lodge Fish Fry fundraiser – March 25, 2026 • Forgotten Fire Winery fundraiser – August 22, 2026 • Open House – October 3 • Department Tshirt sales • Ending grant program of smoke alarms to households at risk 8.
