The Fire Dept has $6800.00 in their checkbook and received $150 donation from the Lions Club and $150 donation from unknown donor. They had four calls which consisted of a car fire and 3 rescue assists. Fire chief Corey Bereza would like the town board to consider a resolution to do the fire inspections once a year instead of twice a year.
The Wausaukee Rescue Squad had 21 calls and have been averaging 2-3 calls a day. The ball joints are out in one of the units.
The road crew is sanding and salting and plowing and grading. The town has been working on a small structures grant and there are 3 that need to be done. Eric recommends that we get an engineering company to help with this so it doesn’t end up costing the town lots of money. Ryan from Coleman Engineering said to Supervisor Mattison that since the meeting with them, they found out that they might run into problems with wetlands on parts of Dow Dam Rd and might have to narrow the road by a foot on each side. They wanted to know if there is gravel in between the concrete and blacktop on the bridge on Dow Dam Rd. There is just concrete with black top on it. Also, where Wright and Grant Streets meet there are two little stub sidewalks that they would like to get rid of. Chairman Sagan made a motion to have Coleman Engineering go ahead with their ideas for Dow Dam Rd and Supervisor Campbell seconded it.
The Park and Rec has Ducky Day planning in full effect and are looking for volunteers, vendors and basket donations. They asked the board to approve Saturday, June 20th as Ducky Days from 11-4 and would like to have the ball diamond 5 days leading up to the event, and 5 days after for cleanup. They also are requesting that a section of Grant St in front of the ball diamond be blocked off for vendors to set up. Advertising banners are available and will be displayed from May 1st through November 1st. Rena Lukowski has stepped down from the committee but will volunteer as her schedule allows. The Parks and Rec committee thanks her for the time she put into the committee and events. They are in the process of selecting a new member. Next meeting is Mar 3rd at 6pm.
There was discussion regarding the Wausaukee Rescue Squad taking on the east side of Middle Inlet for $15,000. The town board discussed the options to take to rectify this situation as all four of the municipalities under contract with the rescue squad feel that this is unfair. Option one was to shut down the border and not service Middle Inlet. Option two was to cancel the contract and charge Middle Inlet $3,000 per call. Corey Bereza suggested that we should get out of the contract and use mutual aid if Twin Bridge does not have a rescue squad available. Supervisor Mattison made a motion to go with Corey Bereza’s idea and Supervisor Campbell seconded it.
Supervisor Mattison made a motion to approve the operator license for Trent Annear and Supervisor Campbell seconded it.
The free electronic recycling day was tabled until next month so that Clerk Ducat could get more information on it.
