REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING TOWN OF AMHERST PAGE 1 OF 2 August 12, 2026 NOTICE: 2 Postings, Website CALL TO ORDER: At 6:30p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE and a prayer was said by Supervisor Trzebiatowski. ROLL CALL: Supervisor Trzebiatowski, Supervisor Lutz, Treasurer Rogers, Clerk Lea, Marj Bachhuber, Arnold Seitz, Mike Peplinski, Nic Lea, Brent Holderman, Melissa Blenker, Nate Hoffman, Brenna Olson. APPROVAL OF JULY 8,2026 MONTHLY MINUTES: M/S by Lutz/Trzebiatowski to accept the July 8, 2026, Town Board Monthly Minutes. M/C Ayes = 2 APPROVAL OF JULY 22, 2026, PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL TOWN MEETING FOR JASON SOPA: M/S Trzebiatowski/Clerk Lea to accept the July 22, 2026, Public Hearing and Special Town Meeting minutes. M/C Ayes = 2 ** Due to Supervisor Lutz not being at the meeting and the passing away of Town Chair, Don Spierings, Clerk Lea was able to approve the minutes. APPROVAL OF JULY 27, 2026, SPECIAL TOWN MEETING: M/S Trzebiatowski/Lutz to accept the minutes of July 27, 2026, Special Town Meeting on town needs due to the passing of Town Chair. M/C Ayes = 2 APPOINTMENT OF TOWN CHAIRMAN AND TOWN SUPERVISOR ACTING IMMEDIATELY: Clerk Lea stated that Wis. State Statues advises that a current town supervisor should finish out the term of Town Chair. Clerk Lea asked if one of the two supervisors would be willing to finish out the term. Supervisor Trzebiatowski stated that he would be willing to finish out the term as Appointed Town Chair and stated that he will resign as Town Supervisor. M/S Clerk Lea/Lutz to appoint Richard Trzebiatowski as Appointed Town Chair. M/C Ayes =2. Oath of Office was given to Trzebiatowski. Clerk Lea then asked the town residents in attendance would be interested in filling the position of Appointed Town Supervisor. Brent Holderman and Nic Lea both stated that they were interested in filling the position. Since Nic Lea is the son of Clerk Lea, Clerk Lea recused herself from voting for an appointed town supervisor. The town board had asked a couple of questions. M/S Trzebiatowski/Lutz appointed Nic Lea as the Appointed Town Supervisor. M/C Ayes = 2 Oath of Office was given to Nicholas Lea. Nic Lea was seated at the town board table. All board members, including the Clerk and Treasurer, were given a copy of their duties per Wisconsin State Statues. PUBLIC INPUT: None REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING TOWN OF AMHERST PAGE 2 OF 2 FIRE & SAFTEY REPORT: 1.) None GROUNDWATER REPORT: None PLAN COMMISSION REPORT: 1.) None YELLOW BRICK ROAD SIGNS: Melissa Blenker, resident on Tin Man Dr. addressed the board about incorrect road signs in The Yellow Brick Road Subdivision. The road signs are not reflective and most of them end with the name Road instead of their correct ending like Drive, Alley, etc. In previous years, these road signs have been stolen multiple times. Past chairman, Don Spierings had made the current road signs with the incorrect suffix and had not used reflective material. The road crew then welded the signs on poles that were cemented into the ground. The town board does agree that these signs do need to be fixed and will investigate some options on how to fix the signs. Tabled. ROAD REPORT: 1.) Grass is all cut. 2.) Shouldering of Pavelski and Lake Rd still needs to be finished. 3.) Chip sealing is done on Tomorrow River Rd. TOWN HALL REPORT: 1.) Election went well yesterday for the Partisan Primary. BUILDING INSPECTION, ZONING PERMIT REPORT: 1.) Wyatt Phillips. 2.) Brenna Olson. 3.) Mark Brzezinski. 4.) John Hitchcock TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Rogers read report. Town Balance is $335,421.03 New Building/Road Loan Balance is $225,718.54. $100,000 from CoVantage was transferred to the IBA checking account for roads. PAYMENT OF BILLS: Reviewed. Swenson bill was extremely high and should have been put out for bid. BUDGET REPORT: Reviewed. The town needs to start the borrowing process for the new road loan. CORRESPONDENCE: 1.) Fall Workshop 2.) WTA Convention. AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MONTH: 1.) The Yellow Brick Road subdivision road signs. ADJOURNMENT: M/S Lutz/Nic Lea to adjourn at 7:53 p.m. M/C.
