April 21, 2026 Town of Dewey Annual Meeting Note: These are the proposed Minutes that will be approved at the next Annual Town Meeting. ___________________________________________________________________________ Minutes Tuesday, April 21, 2026 6:30pm 430 Dewey Drive-Stevens Point WI 54482 Roll Call: Chairman Maurice King, Supervisor LeRoy Pukrop, Supervisor Dennis Meis, Clerk Angela Lochinger, and Treasurer Lori Kolodziej were present. 3 Town Residents\0 Visitors. Minutes from the 2025 Annual Meeting: Chief Brian Lepper motioned to approve the April 15, 2025, Annual Meeting minutes as read by Clerk Lochinger. Doug Evica seconded. The motion passed 8-0. Review of 2025 Financial Report: Copies of the 2025 Annual Financial Report were available. Chairman King reviewed the report and stated the town ended 2025 with a slightly higher year-end balance than anticipated. He reported the town still has $100,000 set aside for road projects. He also explained that the town previously received $102,000 in federal ARPA funding, and that half of those funds were used toward employee wages in 2025, allowing other town funds to be used for road work. The remaining half will be used in 2026. Fire, Rescue, EMS Annual Report for 2025: Copies of the 2025 Fire, Rescue, EMS Annual Report were available. Chief Lepper reviewed department staffing, call volume, training, fundraising, equipment purchases, and other department activity for 2025. He highlighted the purchase of a used engine/rescue truck and replacement SCBA equipment, noted continued training efforts and grant funding, and reported fundraising and donations of over $21,500. He also noted that both the fire department and EMS continue to seek volunteers. Report on town buildings: Chairman King reported the town buildings are in decent shape. He also discussed plans to install a containment area at the town garage for storing sand and salt. Report on town equipment: Chairman King reported the town received the new plow truck in 2025, replacing the old Sterling truck. He also reviewed repairs and maintenance completed on town equipment during the year, including repairs to the Peterbilt, and noted the tractor continues to have mechanical issues. Report on 2025 road work projects and 2026/2027 road work projects: Chairman King reported 2025 work included finishing the Torun Road reconstruction project, spot hauling gravel, and replacing culverts. He reported Willow Springs Drive is expected to be paved, additional culvert replacements are anticipated on various roads, and engineering work for Dewey Drive is planned as part of upcoming 2026/2027 road projects. Any other business as allowed by Law: Chairman King reported the town ordinance update project has been completed. He also discussed updating town policies and reported the Health and Safety Plan is nearly complete and will be brought forward for approval. Discussion also included possible election worker split shifts, town building roof safety concerns, road edge maintenance, and options for reducing the brush pile at the town dump. Adjournment: Chairman King adjourned the meeting at 7:26 pm.
