Bowe, Sheriff Derek Bries, Chief Deputy PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING July 1, 2026 The Calumet County Public Safety Committee meeting was called to order by Supervisor Stier on July 1, 2026, at 8:30 AM. Members Present: Supervisors Peter Stier, Alice Connors, Paul McCann, Joseph Mueller Andy Cleveland was excused Staff Present: Sheriff Brett Bowe, Chief Deputy Derek Bries, Deputy Brady Bunjovac Others Present: None The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Moved by Supervisor Connors, seconded by Supervisor McCann, to approve the Agenda. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Supervisor Mueller, seconded by Supervisor McCann, to approve the Minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Public Participation: None Report of Committee Members: Communications: None Report of Departments: A. Sheriff: 1) Hiring Update: Sheriff Brett Bowe provided an update on upcoming retirements, new hires, promotions, and positions to be filled for corrections, patrol, and dispatch staff. B. Chief Deputy: 1) Patrol Report: Chief Deputy Bries provided the arrest statistics and the overall incident summary for May and June 2026, and spoke about recent incidents. 2) Simulator Grant Application: Chief Deputy Bries provided information about a grant for a simulator to be used for the Sheriff’s Office and surrounding Police Departments. 3) Drone Demonstration: Deputy Brady Bunjovac demonstrated the indoor drone for supervisors. C. Jail Administrator: 1) Jail Report: Sheriff Bowe provided the Average Daily Population (ADP) Report for May and June 2026.
