Verify Open Meeting Notice & Roll Call: The open meeting notice was verified. Chairman Maurice King,
Supervisor LeRoy Pukrop, Supervisor Dennis Meis, and Clerk Angela Lochinger were present. Treasurer
Lori Kolodziej was excused. 3 town residents and/or visitors were present.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 6:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance
was recited.
Chairperson’s comments: Chairman King wanted to thank everyone who helped with the big snow
storm.
Discussion on purchasing of cutting blades and related parts for snowplows and wings: Discussion was
held on the cost of cutting blades and related parts. Information had been gathered on pricing, including
pricing through the County and other suppliers. Supervisor Meis was to continue looking into pricing and
options.
Discussion on hiring of part time employees for snowplowing for 2026-2027 season: The board
discussed the need to have additional backup snowplow drivers available for future seasons, especially
during large storm events. Discussion was also held regarding recent storm conditions, employee
workload, and the difficulty of plowing during whiteout conditions. The board agreed it would be good
to continue looking for possible backup drivers but felt it was too early to advertise at this time.
Chief Lepper spoke in support of the town employees and shared concerns about how discussion at the
prior meeting had been handled.
Discussion on returning town property at the conclusion of term in office: Chairman King stated that
binders, records, and other materials provided to town officials for use in office are town property and
are expected to be returned at the end of a term. Discussion was held on past practice and the
expectation going forward that town property be returned for use by future officials.
Discussion/Action on a motion to enter into Closed Session per Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) to perform town
road & maintenance employee evaluations, review employee compensation and, to consider
compensation of a public employee: Supervisor Meis motioned to enter into Closed Session at 6:37 pm
per Wis. Stats. 19.85(1)(c) to perform town road & maintenance employee evaluations, review
employee compensation and, to consider compensation of a public employee. Supervisor Pukrop
seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Closed Session to last 1 to 1.5 hours. Immediately following the Closed Session: Supervisor Meis
motioned to bring the meeting back into open session at 8:42 pm. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The
motion passed 3-0.
Discussion/Action on revisions to the Town of Dewey Employee Handbook: Following discussion,
Supervisor Meis motioned to revise the Town of Dewey Employee Handbook to add language requiring
town officials and employees to follow all federal, state, local, and established health and safety
regulations and procedures, with failure to do so potentially resulting in discipline or termination. The
motion also included revising the overtime provision so that hours worked in excess of 40 hours in one
week, Saturday through Friday, will be paid at time and one-half, removing compensatory time banking,
and providing that holidays worked will be paid at time and one-half. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The
motion passed 3-0.
Discussion/Action on compensation for the town road & maintenance employees: Following discussion,
Supervisor Meis motioned to set compensation for the full-time road and maintenance employees at
$27.50 per hour with 136 vacation hours for the senior full-time employee and $25.50 per hour with 96
vacation hours for the regular full-time employee. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Discussion/Action on updates to the Town of Dewey Fee Schedule: Following discussion, Supervisor
Pukrop motioned to approve updates to the Town of Dewey Fee Schedule to reflect the revised
compensation and vacation hours for the full-time road and maintenance employees; to increase the
wage for part-time and emergency town employees, including town officers, to $22.00 per hour with a
CDL and $20.00 per hour without a CDL; to increase chief election inspector pay to $17.00 per hour; and
to increase election inspector pay to $15.00 per hour. Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed
3-0.
Adjournment: Chairman King adjourned the meeting at 8:54 p.m.
