TOWN OF BROTHERTOWN
CALUMET COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Minutes of Plan Commission Meeting
May 12, 2026
CALL TO The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Thiel.
ORDER Plan Commission Secretary Popp confirmed meeting notice.
APPROVAL MINUTES The minutes from the December 29, 2025 meeting were reviewed.
Thereafter, a motion was made and seconded with unanimous
approval of the minutes.
MCINTYRE A public hearing was held regarding the petition of Ben McIntyre to
CONDITIONAL USE allow for the construction of an accessory structure that will have a
PERMIT bathroom group (toilet and sink) or any other plumbing or running
water other than a floor drain at the property located at N2857
Driftwood Beach Road. Mr. McIntyre explained that the building
permit for the structure has already been applied for and issued and
that the need for a Conditional Use Permit was identified after the
holding tank permit was filed with the County. During discussion,
the following information was provided: (1) the structure would
include a shed/shop space, small hangout or overflow space, and a
rear room that may be used as an office or a storage area; (2) the
water would be supplied from the existing well; (3) the bathroom
would include a toilet and sink only with no shower, tub, washer, or
dryer; (4) a floor drain will be in the shop area and in the rear
mechanical room; and (5) the holding tank size was stated to be 2,000
gallons.
There were no public comments other than a nearby property owner
who received notice of the hearing in the mail and attended to find
out what was happening. With no additional comments, the public
hearing was closed.
Thereafter, a motion was made and seconded with unanimous
approval to recommend that the Town Board approve the
Conditional Use Permit.
OTHER UPCOMING The Commission discussed other business that would be coming
BUSINESS before it, including the following: (1) that it is necessary to have the
owners of Barnyard Butchers come before the Plan Commission
regarding their non-compliance with the terms of their 2021
Conditional Use Permit. Attorney Parmentier will contact them
regarding this; (2) the Town is in need of application documents for
short-term rental license; (3) the Town may need to discuss various
property maintenance, right-of-way, and nuisance concerns; (4) the
Michels O’Connor quarry has apparently been reclaimed and the
Town needs to determine what, if anything, to do in response; and
(5) the Plan Commission must meet in the future to act on a cell
tower project that involves upgrades to the existing facilities. This
must be approved; however, the Town needs to go through the CUP
issuance process for it.
FUTURE MEETING The Commission discussed possible future meeting dates and
decided on either July 14, 2026 or July 21, 2026. The agenda may
include any or all of the issues mentioned above.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business coming before the Commission, a
motion was made and seconded with unanimous approval to adjourn.
Respectfully submitted,
Matthew Parmentier, Recording Secretary
